| Saturday 20 September 2003 Turners Hill II 0 East Court FC 5 EAST Court continued their fine start to the season in Mid Sussex League division 6 with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Turners Hill II on Saturday (September 20). The first 25 minutes were very tight with neither goalkeeper being seriously tested. Player-manager Dan Medcalf almost broke the deadlock when he charged forward with a run from defence but saw his shot saved by the Turners Hill shot-stopper. Meanwhile, a Turners Hill player was booked after a late challenge on captain Simon Nickols. Martyn Bishop went off injured and his replacement Carl Buckler had an immediate impact. He received the ball from keeper Paul Bishop's throw-out, ran down the wing and played a one-two with Billy Denyer before crossing the ball for Ben Sunderland to slide home. It was the beakthrough that East Court needed and another three goals went in before the half-time whistle. A mix-up in the Turners Hill box saw Denyer turn the ball into the danger area for Sunderland to score his second and then Sunderland returned the compliment setting up Denyer who rounded the Turners Hill keeper to score. A similar goal was scored just before half-time when Ross Kelly's through ball saw Denyer beat the offside trap and he scored just inside the near post. After half-time Kelly got on the score-sheet when he chested the ball down and blasted the ball into the corner. Further chances followed and Denyer almost secured his hat-trick but his running header from Andrew Wright's cross hit the post. Simon Nickols saw a header crash against the crossbar while Buckler saw his 25 yard shot brilliantly kept out by the Turners Hill keeper. James Nickols came on for Tom Greig in defence and played well while Chris Whiting, who replaced Sunderland, almost scored his first goal for the club but saw his effort blocked. James Salter and Nick Palmer battled for every ball in midfield while Denyer almost scored again on the final whistle but saw his shot saved.
