Jarvis Brook II 2 East Court 0

EAST Court failed to score for the first time this season as they went down 2-0 to Jarvis Brook II on Saturday (April 5).

Despite it being only their second defeat in Mid Sussex League division 7, East Court were replaced at the top of the table by Jarvis.

With key players missing with injuries and the rest feeling tired after the epic cup final the Wednesday before, it was always going to be an uphill struggle for the away side.

Clear-cut chances in the first half were few and far between with the best of them falling to Jarvis Brook. But excellent defending from player-manager Daniel Medcalf, Martyn Bishop and James Nickols meant Jarvis were limited to one clear opportunity, which was well saved by keeper Paul Bishop.

The second half was again a scrappy affair but Jarvis took the lead when a player headed home a corner.

East Court pushed forward but were unable to create anything of note and it was Jarvis who broke away to score a decisive second.

Just before the end the home team hit the bar with the rebound being cleared off the line by Martyn Bishop.

Despite losing East Court still have enough games in hand over their rivals to win the championship.
