| Saturday 12 October 2002 Lindfield III 0 East Court FC 3 AFTER last week's cup exit, East Court FC got back to winning ways with a sound away performance in this Mid Sussex League division 7 match. On a pitch which resembled a ploughed field, East Court took a while to find their feet. Despite this they took the lead. Daniel Medcalf's free kick was headed on and some confusion in the Lindfield defence left James Salter free to knock the ball home. East Court continued to make chances with striker Ross Kelly going close on a couple of occasions. Billy Denyer made it two with a wonderful individual goal. He beat a number of Lindfield players before sliding the ball under the oncoming keeper. Early in the second half Denyer added a second. Lindfield tried to come forward but were stopped by the excellent defending of Medcalf, Andrew Wright, Nick Palmer and David Nolan. On the one occasion Lindfield did get through they were thwarted by a double save from keeper Paul Bishop, who first pushed a header onto the crossbar and then turned the rebound round the post. Just before the end a run from Medcalf set up Carl Buckler for a chance to score East Court's fourth but his shot was well saved. Team: P.Bishop, A.Wright, D.Nolan, M.Nolan, D.Medcalf, S.Nickols, B.Denyer, R.Kelly, J.Salter, C.Buckler. Unused Sub: O.Wright |
