Day 2: Arts/OCD

I had to be at the university at 8:30 to register for the Arts Orientation. Luckily for me the Arts quad is a lot closer to my parking lot than Fed Hall. All the Arts teams were styles of music (and a colour). There was green-rock, yellow-punk, red-hip hop and I was on blue-country. We had some wacky leaders, it was fun. And they had made up a line dance (incredibly simple but for some reason everyone thought it was hard). Will, one of the leaders (sort of the main one) was really cool. He always told us to suck up to Joel who is the Head FOCer. He said, Whenever you see him, go up and tell him: youre doing a good job HeadFOCer. or hey FOCer. Yeah. We had to go to hear the dean speak at Fed Hall and the mic wasnt working and I was sitting in the very back and could not hear a word. I almost fell asleep. Then I think we ate lasagne. It was pretty good. Then we had sessions where you could pick to do yoga, kick-boxing, hip hop, ultimate Frisbee or improv. I did the improv, and was labelled the improv queen, because I introduced a couple new games and smoked everyone at questions only. Lots of people asked me if I was taking drama, I sadly had to tell them no, but I wish I were. After that two of the teams went to see Single and Sexy while my team and the red team went to the Village Green to play little games. This event was organized by the Roadies, to whom we were also trying to suck up. They were ok the best one was where we got to throw paint on sponges at our leaders. After that was over we got to go home.

I drove home, barely had enough time to make myself something to eat and leave again to come back for the OCD event at night. This was where we presented our skits about drinking responsibly and some groups had things like teen pregnancy and drugs and stuff. What our team did was good idea-bad idea and my groups was hilARious.
Our first one was: good idea, not making drinking the primary focus of an event or activity. (I said that). So we had this funeral and Matt (from the circle at the bonfire in case you care) says, Im really nervous, I have to give the eulogy. The girl beside him, Jen, pulls out a bottle of water and says, hey do you want some vodka? He says, No I dont think drinking should be my primary focus right now.
Me:Bad Idea: Making drinking the primary focus of an event or activity.
Matt: I cant have a good time unless I drink.
Jen: Hey, want some vodka?
Matt: swigs the whole bottle. Gets up, stumbling about and starts talking slurring his words, Bob was a great guy I loved Bob. (hugging the body) Bob and I go way back falls to the floor.
Our second one was: Good Idea: respecting others decision not to drink. (That was said by a girl and I cant remember her name right now, she switched into our group at the last minute.) Matt, Jen and Jenny are sitting around. I walk in.
Me: Hey gang! Hows it goin? (cheesy style)
Matt: Hey, do you want some alcohol?
Me: No thanks, Im not drinking tonight, I have to go home and study. (still super cheesy) Ill have a chocolate milkshake, cuz Im sweet, like chocolate. (had to work that in)
Matt, Jen, and Jenny: thats cool, we respect your decision not to drink. All give cheesy thumbs up.
Me: Gee golly. Thanks for respecting my decision not to drink
Matt: Swell. Exit.
Bad Idea not respecting others decision not to drink
Hey gang, whats goin on?
Not much, want some alcohol?
No I have to study
Matt: (springer style) Oh you dint just say dat!
Jen: gets up and snaps her fingers
Jenny: Why dont you go and mow the lawn?
Matt: you know what I smell? I dont know but shes stooopid.
Me: run out crying.
And our last one, Jen: Good idea, providing food for your guests at a house party.
Me and other girl walk up to Jenny, Hey great party! You got any munchies?
Jenny, Sure, I always provide food for my guests. Hands us box of crackers and box of crispers. Hey thanks. Thats great cuz Im diabetic.
Bad idea: not providing food for your guests.
Matt walks up to Jenny, got any food?
No.
Breaks her neck, she crumples to the floor. Walks forward and stands staring at the audience for a second then turns and breaks Jens neck, she crumples to the floor.

Yeah, it was great. There were some other really great skits too. But anyway. After the skits we walked over to the Bombshelter and hung out and listened to a couple of live bands, it was pretty sweet. I met Penny, Andrew and Kevin. And later I met Wes and man, it is so hard to remember the names of everyone you meet, especially if you didnt really talk to them that much. Wes I remember because he had crushed up cookie crumbs that I was eating. And I also talked to him more later. Anyway. That was tons of fun and I left, I dont know what time. Its really nice they have walk-safe, which I believe that they have at pretty much every university. I like it, cuz I am worried that Ill get lost in the dark or get mugged. By now I feel better about finding my way around campus, but it is quite a big campus so yeah you know.
