PREPARING TO BREAK YOUR HEART
(by Ondrea N. Lewis ©1999)

One cup of sweet words
Ten ounces of apologies
All the ingredients, where do I start
I am preparing to break your heart

A dash of it’s me not you
One bowl of you’ll find someone new

A few good memories to hold it together
Don’t want it to fall apart
I am preparing to break your heart

A tablespoon of sadness
A gallon of non regrets
To add a little flavor
A bag of things you won’t forget

A dash of color
Maybe baby blue
Then a hint of no one
Could ever compare to you

Check to see if it’s still a little tart
I am preparing to break your heart

Bake for 15 minutes
Till the brow begins to stiffin’
To prevent from getting’ burned
Better grab your mittens

Sprinkle with understanding
Apply as much as desired
Then take a bite and be prepared
For it to be hot as fire

Give some space
More time to cool
But don’t forget the friendship part

We can still be friends
As we have from the start
But no longer lovers
Sorry for breakin’ your heart
