LETTER TO MY LOVE
(by Ondrea N. Lewis ©2000)

Dear Long-Distance Love,

Often times I tell you
Of the love within my heart
And just how much it pains me
For us to be far apart

And occasionally I question
If the love is the same from you
But just as quickly questioned
Come the answer of your love true

Although I’ve felt that miles between
Keep us from being together
I think the distance, time apart,
Helped us through stormy weather

And although my childish ways
Threatened to bring an end
I could always count on you
As a loving friend

If I’d had the chance to sculpt you
With my own bare hands
And put into you all the things
I look for in a man

I wouldn’t have mastered the skill it took
To create a being like you
One so wonderful outward and in
With a heart so pure and true

I guess you wonder why I took the time
To write these words in rhyme
The simple truth is I wanted to show you
How glad I am that you’re mine
