Makoto is an incredibly strong individual, physically, mentally, AND emotionally. She had to deal with the trauma of her parents� death and has had to live on her own. I don�t know of many people who could do that at her age! She is very self-sufficient, and she excels at anything domestic. She can cook, sew, clean, etc. On top of all that, she is physically very strong as well. She is strong enough to lift Misha while they are ice skating. GUYS even have to work hard to be able to do that. She is very agile and quick, which is invaluable in many physical activities. She is a great ice skater as well. Her determination is something else! Of all the inner scouts, I feel that she has the greatest determination. She has a lot of self-discipline, and she strives to constantly improve herself. She is also very loyal.
We all know that, despite her tomboy attitude, she has a very feminine side and is quite the romantic. She loves to dress up in formal dresses, and in the one episode where she was in the black dress with the red rose she looked simply stunning! Sure she thinks that every cute guy looks like her old boyfriend, Fred, but that gives her character which makes her all the more lovable. People dislike certain scouts because of their flaws, but it is the flaws that make them seem real. No one is perfect, and Takeuchi Naoko was very right to give each of her characters flaws to balance out their good points.
The many good points that Makoto has as a civilian really make her shine as a senshi. Her strength and agility make her a pretty formidable foe, and from the very beginning she has had quite strong attacks. Her willingness to �kick bad guy butt� is also very valuable, especially since it helps counter Sailor Moon�s hesitation to do so. After all, SOMEONE has to fend of the bad guys while Sailor Moon gets up enough courage to finish them off! Finally, her loyalty is extremely important to the team as well. She would quite willingly give her life for any of her friends, and that self-sacrificing spirit is what has held save the other scouts on numerous occasions.
