The Scorpion 5K and Mile Fun Run was held Saturday August 19, 2000.  The weather was outstanding and the turnout was great.  There were 50 finishers in the 5K (results in the link above) and another dozen participated in the Fun Run.  Joe Drissel, class of 1991 and UMBC women's coach, won the men's event in 17:14 while Norah MacPhee, wife of class of 1990 alum Greg MacPhee and coach at Wilde Lake, won the women's event in 24:38.  There were 19 alumni in the 5K and others in attendance.  Coach Carnahan, the all-world coach who led Oakland Mills to 8 State Titles in 11 years, was in attendance in what might have been his last 5K on the home course.  He noted he will seriously consider the Mile Fun Run next year.  The event was a success and the coaches and athletes would like to thank you, your support is needed and appreciated.  Pictures are in the Photo Gallery under 2000.
