Congrats to Phil on his induction into the Howard County Sports Hall of Fame. 09 Schedule Full Results for Invitationals can be found at runningmaryland.com WOW!!! What an amazing day for the Scorps. Both teams ran GREAT races. The weather was just perfect and the competition was great. The boys were 4th and the girls were 2nd. Tiffany broke her own OM course record by running 19:56 and placing 3rd. Sarah became the fastest freshman OM girl to run the OM course (19:59 - 4th place) and the second fastest OM girl. Alyssa is the 5th fastest OM girl on the home course. Some girls ran their fastest time on the course by a significant amount: Ash over 5 min; Alyssa and Alex over 4 min; Kathi, Megan and Brianna 3 min or more. Sam Andrews became the 3rd fastest freshman OM boy on the OM course. Mackey is back and ran faster then he did last year beating Howard's number 5 boy (we beat Howard by 1 point). Every boy ran their fastest time on the course. Runners of the Meet: Ash, Sarah, Caroline, Will, Steven, Sam. JV Times - Jacob 19:36; Steven 20:05; Nick L. 20:21; Vince 20:39; Gabe 21:09; Nick S 21:30; Keller 21:31; Darrien 25:14; Girls - Brianna 24:49; Kate 25:09; Megan 25:20; Ash 29:21; Alex 32:10 Team competed at Howard Wednesday. Jay placed 2nd, Sarah 2nd, Tiff 3rd, Leah 6th and Kathi 10th to finish in the top 10 in the Varsity races. Vince placed 7th and Nick Lampron placed 9th in the JV race. The boys lost to both Howard and Mt. Hebron and the girls lost to Howard but beat Mt. Hebron. Runners of the Meet: Brianna, Kate, Shamere, Nick L., Vince, Nick S.
Congratulations to the Girls Team on winning the A2 Division of the Doc Jones Invitational. They had a battle with Maryvale but edged them out by 1 point. Tiffany placed 2nd while Sarah (5th) and Leah (8th) both earned medals. Kathi (16th), Caroline (20th) and Shamere (22nd) all earned ribbons. Great performance by the Scorps. They really fought hard during the race and it paid off. The boys team had to run without Jacky or Cameron because of sickness. The other members of the team really fought hard out there and ran great races. The boys placed 4th. Jay lead the way by placing second. Austin (10th) and Sam (11th) placed in the top 15th to earn a medal. Jacob had an amazing race and placed 30th to earn a ribbon. Runners of the Meet: Austin, Sam, Shamere, Leah The team had beautiful weather for Bull Run. Running in the morning really paid off. We ran in the Large school division instead of the small school division so the team could make it back for homecoming festivities. The girls team finished 8th out of 17 teams while the boys finished 15th out of 26 teams. Medal winners were: Tiffany 6th; Sarah 11th; Jay 13th. Vince, Keller, Jacob, Shamere, Jay, Austin, and Jacky all ran their fastest times on the Hereford course. Runners of the Meet: Caroline, Tiffany, Sarah, Jacob, Jay, Ryan Cush. The team competed well at the Knights Invite. Great conditions on a fast course lead to some fantastic times. The girls team placed 7th. The girls won 4 medals - Tiffany 13th; Sarah 17th; Leah 31st and Kathi 47th. The boys placed 10th. Jay (14th) and Austin (40th) were medal winners. In the Freshman Race Sam Andrews lead most of the way but took a few wrong turns and one of them cost him the win. He persevered and got back on track and finished 4th. Cameron Bowling also won a medal in the freshman race placing 22nd. On the girls side, Alyssa (5th) and Kristina (11th) both ran great races and won medals. Runners of the Meet: Kathi, Tiff, Alex, Jacob, Sam, Cameron. The team participated in a Tri Meet at Wilde Lake on 9/15/09. The boys were lead by a 3rd place finish from Jay. There were some very good performances. Congrats to Mackey to getting back into the Varsity line up after dealing with some tough injuries. Also, congrats to Nick Shulder for going after it and earning a varsity spot as well. The girls were lead by a 2nd place finish from Tiffany and a 3rd place finish from Sarah. Congrats to Alyssa for going from 7th on the team to 4th and congrats to Kate for getting out there and racing for the first time this year. Runners of the Meet: Megan, Tiffany, Sarah, Will, Mackey, Nick Shulder. Boys Varsity Girls Boys JV OM Times The conditions for the Howard County Invite were very tough. Rain, mud, wind, cold. The Scorps got out there and competed despite the conditions. The boys were lead by Jay Kuvelker who placed 24th and earned a medal. The boys team finished 17th. The girls were lead by Tiffany Lang (30th) and Sarah Brand (36th) who earned ribbons. The girls team finished 12th. We look forward to working hard and improving as the season continues. Runners of the Meet: Alyssa, Ash, Brianna, Keller, Darrien, Will The team got some great weather for Place Trials. There were many kids who ran their first race so hopefully they gained some experience and will build on that throughout the season. The girls were lead by Freshman Sarah Brand. Sarah ran the 2nd fastest place trial time ever. Tiffany Lang was next and Caroline Chisolm, Kathie Goetz, Shamere Law, Leah Davidson-Wolf and Kristina Brunner rounded out the top 7 for the girl's varsity spots. Jay Kuvelker lead the boys with sophmore Austin Sungenis placing 2nd and running a very impressive race. Jacky Tian, Sam Andrews, Nick Lampron, Steven Cale and Jacob Sechrest finished in the next spots to earn the boys varsity spots. Sam Andrews, Shamere Law, Nick Shulder, Austin Sungenis, Jacky Tian, Will Woodcock, and Christin Zontek all ran Personal Records on the course today. Congrats to all. Camp is now in the books. It was successful and the coaches were very impressed with the talent level of the kids during the talent show. Nice job to all!!!
