CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH TEAMS AT THE STATE MEET.

The girls placed 4th out of 17 teams and were lead by a 7th place finish from Tiffany Lang.  Liz Kimble (34th), Leah Davidson Wolf (40th), Caroline Chisolm (52nd), Dalyce Wilson (73rd), Rachel Shulder (78th) and Ananda Martin Caughey (105th) also competed for the Scorps.  Seniors, Liz, Dalyce, Rachel and Ananda should be very proud as they ended their high school cross country career on a positive note.  They really helped keep this girls program competitive and their leadership will definitely be missed.  Seniors, Shannon Hart and Alex Deters will also be missed on the team next year.

The boys placed 7th out of 20 teams and beat many teams that beat them earlier in the year.  David Owen lead the way by placing 19th.  Right behind him was Jay Kuvelker in 21st place. Dylan Marty (44th), Mackey Boyle (68th), Peter Sammis (69th), Majid Waheed (104th), and Matt Widstrom (111th) also competed for the Scorps.  The boys had 5 seniors compete for them, David, Dylan, Peter, Majid, Matt, who should also be very proud of themselves and the success they had at Oakland Mills.  The boys will also miss Mike Keane, Ilya Dynin, Mike Anderson and Ben Sechrest next year.

The girls decided to show some team spirit this week and dye their hair orange.  Many also used some Orange spray and almost the whole OM team had some orange in their hair.  The girls started the day off by placing 4th at Regionals.  Tiffany lead the way by running another great race and placing 4th.  Liz (16th); Rachel (25th); Caroline (27th); Dalyce (34th); Ananda (44th) and Kate (45th) ran the varsity race for the Scorps.  The boys finished in a tight pack and placed 3rd.  David (16th); Jay (17th); and Dylan (18th) placed in the top 20 and were followed by Mackey (26th); Peter (30th); Matt (52nd); and Majid (55th).  The Open race was full of entertaining costumes.  Phil and Brian focused on the race and skipped the costumes.  They both ran great and raced the way they coach - Big Second Half.  Jacky and Austin lead the way for the Scorps running good races.   Tiffany's little sister Brittany also ran in the open race and was the first girl across the line in and broke 21 minutes.  Runners of the Meet:  Rachel, Caroline, Ananda, Peter, David, Mackey and Brittany earned an asterisk.

The boys team were the talk of the county on Thursday with their orange Mohawks.  They looked great.  The hair cut must have worked because they had their best performance as a "team" and placed 7th in the County.  Jay earned a medal by placing 13th.  The girls didn't have Mohawks :) but still ran pretty well.  Tiffany earned a medal by placing 5th and Leah (23rd) and Liz (25th) earned ribbons.  The JV runners were fantastic.  So many of them ran minutes faster then they ran at the HCI.  We had 13 JV boys run and 11 of them ran their fastest time ever on the Centennial Course.  The JV girls had 6 toe the starting line and 3 of them ran their fastest time ever on the course and the others were close.  Many seniors ran their last official cross country race of their high school career and all of them ran incredible.  Runners of the Meet:  Alex, Tiffany, Caroline, Austin, Will, Pharoah.

OM Times

The team had a strong performance in the last race before the post season.  Now we get ready for the "big" meets and I think everyone is ready.  We still have a few that are a little banged up but we expect both teams to be at full strength for counties on Thursday.  Runners of the Meet:  Daylce, Kate, Megan, Dylan, Ilya, Jay.

The team headed to Agricultural Farm Park on Friday for a scrimmage against some big Montgomery County schools.  We had a lot of fun and the rain stopped just for the event.  The park was nice and the course was a little challenging.  No team score was kept but times were available.  We had some new blood on both teams this year that looked good in their first high school competition.  On the boys side Majid and Dylan lead the way for the boys while Freshman Jackey Tian finished as the 10th Scorpion and ran a pretty impressive time of 21.33.  Tiffany Lang lead the scorpion girls team in her first competition as a Scorpion (5th overall in 22.00).  Leah and Liz finished strong on the girls side as well.  Our runners of the meet are: Nick Lampron; Austin Sungenis; Jackey Tian; Rachel Shulder; Tiffany Lang; Shannon Hart.

Pictures to follow soon.

We got off to a great start at camp this year.  We did some running, played some games, had a dance and just got to know each other.  The weather was perfect.  Low temp and low humidity with no rain.  Thanks to all the parents for another successful year at camp.  Pictures to follow (once I have time to look through all of them).
