Congratulations to the girls for an outstanding team effort. Samantha Sammis (39th) lead the Scorps to a 6th place finish. There was only a 37 second gap between 1st and 5th and only 1.10 from 1st to 7th. That is what we call pack running. What a great way to end the season. The boys battled some very stiff competition and performed well. They placed 9th with Jonah Meyers leading the way placing 18th. The boys team should unbelievable improvement this year and we applaud their hard work. Both teams stepped it up on a very challenging course. The girls finished 6th out of 25 teams and the boys finished 10th out of 26 teams. There was a lot of drive and fight in the team. We missed our top 3 girls from the Home meet and the ladies really performed well to make up for their absence. On the guys side we had Teddy back out there and Jonah ran in the JV race. We were still without a lot of runners and hope that most will be ready to go this week. Full Race results can be found at www.mdrunning.net 9/20/06 Quad Home Meet with Centennial, Wilde Lake and Howard - We are seeing some great improvement in the team. Not only are the veterans getting faster and contributing to the team but we have many new runners - young and old - making a huge impact already. There is a lot of talent on this team - both boys and girls - and we are starting to really see the potential. It was great having Dalyce back out there after some time off but missed having Alex and Megan. We missed Teddy but know he will be back out there soon along with Jonah. We have to applaud the effort and the times but we still have a lot of work to do to get where we need to be and we need to remember to run the OM way - BIG SECOND HALF!!! Many of you forgot about this strategy yesterday. It was great seeing so many parents out and supporting their kids - I hope you realize how much it means to your kids and to the coaches to see you out there supporting the hard work they put in. Cross Country is a very demanding sport and it takes a lot of discipline to do it so make sure you applaud your kids for participating in cross country. Next up is Bull Run on 9/30/06 - this is the State Meet course. 9/16/06 Brentsville Relay - This was a really great event and something different for Cross Country running. The coaches really enjoyed the day and it seems that most of the kids did also. Not only did the team compete but the coaches, some parents, the coaches kid's, and some siblings were out there in the races also. The team ran well. 9/8/06 - HCI - The Howard County Invite was very competitive. This county is getting better and better each year and boy does that make for some exciting races. We did not finish as high as we had hoped but the kids put forth a great effort and we applaud the rest of the county. Many kids beat last year's HCI time or were pretty close. When scored against last years team we did it again - we win!!! Congrats. We head to the Brentsville Relays on Saturday. OM Times for the HCI Go to Howard County Running link or mdrunning link for full results. 8/31/06 - Time Trials were very successful this year. The weather could not have been more perfect and the kids were ready to go. The times were incredibly fast - the hard work the kids are doing is paying off all ready. The coaches applaud your efforts and know that more great things are to come. We had 10 athletes who had run the course before run their PR - that is really amazing. When scored against last years team both boys and girls team for this year won easy. Congrats.
