This is the
last belt rank you will ever get. The requirements
that you need to be a black belt
are: 1. you need to
have been in three or more tournaments 2. you need to
have a thesis 3. you need to
know all the forms 4. you need to
have tested at least 16 tests since you were a
white belt 5. you need to
have some teaching experience 6. you have to
know the Korean names for the kicks , punches and
blocks you have learned 7. you need to
know some hapkido, all five three-step sparring
drills, and one-step sparring 8. you need to
have a good attitude. You have to be respectful,
work hard and try your best. 9. do a good job
in class and have good attendance 10. do the final
testing where you show how good you are at
warm-ups, kicking, blocking, punching, sparring,
breaking boards, performing any of the forms and
concentrating for the whole three hours. The reasons I
want to be a black belt are 1. to have the
title "black belt" 2. to be like
Master Wolpert and Master Kim 3. to prove that
I have reached black belt How Taekwondo
has changed my life 1. now I can
concentrate much better 2. if I get
bullied, I can defend myself 3. it makes me
feel more confident in myself Even though this
is the last belt rank, you can go even higher. In
one year, if you keep testing you will get a letter
from Korea saying that wherever you go, whatever
school you go to, you will be able to keep your
black belt. From now on
promotions are called dans. Some people say that
black belt is the beginning of Taekwondo because
now you know enough to really do it. . . . . . Korean
