The Royal Opera House has re-open in December 1999 as a theatre at the heart of the nation's artistic and cultural life. A programme of opening events will welcome the resident companies back to the Covent Garden stage, with performances from guest artists including Placido Domingo, Viviana Durante and Sylvie Guillem.The beautifully restored foyer areas in the 1858 building are now supported by the magnificent Floral Hall providing visitors with a beautiful environment in which to relax or take time to view both the temporary and permanent exhibitions. The Amphitheatres restaurant, and terraces offers stunning views of London, whilst a series of backstage tours and open ballet classes allows people the opportunity to experience the backstage life of the theatre.
