Look Ma!

Karachi, Pakistan.
Yup! That' me! A long...long time ago. Notice the old sepia look of this photo? How time flies. I'm the fourth kid of the family. In Sundese term I am the 'bungsu' of the family of four brothers and sisters. But seven years later, my small sister was born and my status changed to 'pangais bungsu' (whatever that means). Bits and pieces of memories still linger. The most prominent vague memory was the nasty bee sting on my lower lips. Or was it my chin? Maybe this is how I got the lumpy thing on my chin. Also, inherited from this era were the chicken pox holes on my right cheek and fore head.

The 'Fantastic Failure' Kid

Seoul, Korea.
Back then, I was the infamous 'fantastic failure' kid. My elementary school memories were filled with gruesome and fantastic childhood memories. My class mates call me 'fantastic failure' coz I always get an 'F' on my tests. But luckily this didn't take long and only lasted for about six months. On one summer, I did a lot of private language studies using pictures and visual aids. My grades changed and I was later transformed into an 'A' student. Why? Later, I found out that at the time, my right brain was more active than my left brain. Yes, I do have a tendency toward art. I remembered the countless doodles that I had made on anything that could serve as a 'doodle' base including my school and work books, bed room walls, doors, etc., using 'doodle' media such as crayon, chalk, paint, pencil, water color. I was so obsessed with pictures, drawing, and color, that I even painted my cat in rainbow colors.

Me and my best friend Sydik (right).

First Love

This is Christine Beach. She was my first true love. Well, I wasn't much of a 'fantastic failure' after all. He..he..he..

She's always in my mind
from the time i wake up
till I close my eyes
she's every where I go
She's all I know
Though she's so far away...

Hm... I wonder where she is right now...

The Teenage Music and Techno Nerd

Bandung, Indonesia.
Well, not all the way a true nerd, but my love for music and techno stuff has been in my blood ever since. My high school and campus years were filled with musical activities, ranging from joining school vocal groups to jazz bands. I began writing my own songs and recording them on cassettes tapes. I even tried my luck by competing in song writing contests and festivals. As the result, two of my songs had won prestigious national song writing contests in 1987 (Lomba Cipta Lagu Perdamaian Dunia) and 1988 (Dasa Tembang Tercantik - Prambors).

My other interests were computers. At the time, the only computers within my grasp were the apple PC with its 5.5 inch floppy disks and Norman Sinclair's 'hype' products.

Live show at jalan Suci.

The 'Magic Stuff' guy

For a year, I worked as a computer systems analyst and programmer in a Project Management Consultant firm working on a Geothermal construction project in Tasik-Garut, then got really bored with the job and moved on to work in a newly established Animation Studio (The first animation studio in Indonesia) located in Bandung. The job suited me just fine coz it was more of a right brain job for me. My main job here was to design and build a working 2D & 3D animation system using standard home PCs and software. At the time, animation systems need a lot of state-of-the-art high tech equipments. Most animation studios went bankrupt in their first years of production due to hi-tech investments. Using standard PCs and software, I designed the cheapest animation system ever built on the surface of this planet. This was where I got the 'Magic Stuff' nick name from the expatriates working there. Magic stuff tasks including all the 'weird' jobs from fixing jammed printers to wiring the electrical system in the attic. But the real magic was making sure that we meet our project's deadlines (We never missed a single deadline, except for the lightning struck natural hazard which crashed the computer system during a nasty lightning storm).

But business is business, la!

After years of 'magical' services for the studio, on 1998, I quitted my job and started building my own animation studio (Animagic Studio) from scratch along with several of my friends from the later studio. We ran into financial problems on our first years during the so-called 'krismon'. But we did manage to survive it. Three years later I started building my own small software development company (Mediawiz Technology).

Meet Diego

This is Diego, my favorite cat since about 10 years ago.
