Omar A. Azam homepage
This is my homepage. See more of my creative ouptut at  my other website: http://www.azam.org

I am very excited to share some of my writings, some purportedly objective and others more subjective. I think that it is the responsibility of those who consider themselves part of the internet not to just idly surf the net but to contribute something as well. I do not want to be just an internet consumer.

Hope  you find something of benefit here.  Note, this is not my professional homepage. If you want to do business with me, find me on

I'm still in the middle of living life, so I am not going to write a bio. Hopefully you can get a feel for who I am from words and thoughts I create, not from a sketch of where's and when's (born, school, etc.) I found out Foucault had the same idea.

I find that when I create an anthology, it can quickly turn into an excuse not to be generative. I try to alternate between writing and editing.

I think it is very important for an individual who wants to contribute something to the world to indentify what their talents are. ANd to recognize that in their historical and societal context, which talents are most in need. For example, in our society, there is a lot of psychic pain. There is a lot of closed-mindedness.  Luckily for me, I think God has given me a talent in healing through words and expressing through words. So I choose to develop these talents and to promote them in the world. Just like the onus (and priovilege)  upon me of creating a webpage, so it is with identifying and developing our talents.

My family is very important to me. Now I have 2 sons.
Family, music, funniness, humanity, poetry, ethics, drawing.

Music can do dramatic things to the mood, regulate it, excite it, what not. Music is a hidden mystery. I have a gripe with the claim that God is somehow against music as a whole.  As industrial and ambient music has shown, every sound pattern has an indentifiable key, tone, and rhythm. Even drums have a key (ever tuned a timpani or a tabla?). It is what you do with the sounds, the meaning they convey and the behavior that is incited, that is more important than how the music was made.  Like the human voice, which can speak, curse, sing poetry, be solo, a duet, or part of a chorus, so is an instrument (and in this day and age, synthesizer) only as symbolic as its mission.

I was the class clown. I was a slacker. I made fun of authority figures. I think laughter is good medicine. I have become quite serious.

I think people are better one on one than when they are in crowds.

Justice is the logical corollary of Truth.

Poetry is a process of putting down beautiful sequences of words out of subjectively memorable experience, ideas. The poetry is first and foremost for myself - it is therefore a langauge of its own, alternatingly renderable to the outsider. Aesthetics and authenticity are the focus. I create beauty from what was not beautiful. I reflect myself and am pleased with what I see. Always. I must be in order to be true to myself.
