| Ole C. Olson was born May 17, 1861 in Eisvold, Norway. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Ole Gulbranson. Ole C. immigrated to America with his family in 1869, he worked as a young man in Muskeleen, Michigan. At some time after their immigration his family resided in Racine County, Wisconsin. Then later moving to Hansonville Township in Lincoln County, Minnesota in 1881 to invest in homesteading property.In 1887 he was granted ownership of land he homesteaded on sections 16, 21, and 27 of Hansonville Township. He was married in 1886 to a local girl Emma Ovidia Olson from Yellow Medicine County, Norman Township, a daughter of Gullik C. Friberg and Christina Olson who were also immegrated Norwegians. The first Twine Grain Binder in the area was purchased by Ole and his brother Martin W. Olson in 1883. In 1915 he had 840 acres of total land some he had homesteaded and some he had bought, a live in farm hand named Nicolay Fauske who was 18 years old at the time worked for Ole. Ole raised Hereford beef as well as farmed his property. He and Emma had 12 children, seven girls and 5 boys. The first Adel born in 1888. Winner born in 1899 died as an infant. Ole's wife Emma O. died December 8th 1931 of an enlarged liver condition at the age of 62. Ole lived on until 1937 when he died of stomach cancer at the age of 76. He remained at his farm until his death. Ole donated land for Hansonville church and the church cemetery which he and Emma and several of his siblings are buried. |
