Life Sux!!!

I wonder how many times I've heard that? Life doesn't suck... people do (and I'm not going to make my usual crack about their proficiency. O:) )

I read a lot... Fiction and Non-Fiction both, and I find many sad (if true) reasons why young adults believe that. The teens who know me personally, and those who chat with me frequently, know how I feel about most things. But I doubt that most of them realize how much those things disturb me? Some do. :)

"Heroes": We used to admire people who were smart or brave or talented and now we despise them. We have TV and the tabloids to drag anybody who dares to stand up for anything back down into the cesspool with us.

"The Knight is dead, and we know it because we killed him. The Troll is on the throne, and we know it because we put him there."

There's a poll where young people picked the celebrities they admired most. Beavis & Butt-head was the number one choice. What is the next century going to be like if the best we can give our "kids" to look up to are a couple moronic punks?

"Kids": Something we all were/are at some time. Hey!!!! We all have to start somewhere. The "Kids" are more open and honest than most adults that I've talked to on-line. At least they tell you what they think up front, instead of talking about you behind your back. Wonder why we have so many on Realms Staff???

The unfortunate thing, is that with the "continued support" of most adults they may actually grow up to be adults.... then they can be devious and cruel too. I know some really well-adjusted teens ( I won't embarrass them by saying who they are)..... Most are well-adjusted because some adult BESIDES their parents cared... though I know some who have excellent parents also.

Most teens seem to be wandering around in a world of full of changes, confusion, peer-pressure and such (I hesitate to mention crime, sex, & drugs) without the benefit of guidance. :(

Our society, as a whole, is lacking in values. I can only hope that the "KIDS" can save us when they are older. The "ADULTS" are too busy to care... for the most part. :'(

"Love": Something that doesn't die... even when the other person does everything possible to kill it.

"This is the true measure of love.... When we believe that we alone can love, that no one could have ever loved so before us, And that noone will ever love in the same way after us." -Goethe

"Loyal Modemer": ????? An ideal of ours??? (Not to knock anyone in partic.... Stewart and Sir Kent prob are. :) And EE is OF COURSE!!!! There are prob a few others... hard to tell sometimes. )

"Pedifile": An Adult who cares about the welfare and feelings of anybody under the age of 18 (According to several local SysOps). :(

"Pig": A derogatory term for a public servant who spends his day trying to make life safer for all of us. He/she enforces the law.... they don't write it. Most of my life envolved my working in some way with law enforcement personnel... not actively, but in near-constant contact. I have VERY seldom encountered a "pig" among their ranks. I've encountered them in 5 states..they've always treated me with courtesy and respect... within the law.

I've never been there when they walked into a blood-covered room... and I'm very glad I wasn't.... they prob wish they weren't either. Sometimes, I think a planet populated by Pigs would do a better job than us humans are doing?

"Principles": Something people will cluck about until their tongues fall out, but won't put themselves out for if they can avoid it.

"School": The place kids are forced to go. Metal detectors, Security Guards? OK. So kids have to go someplace where they are obviously risking their lives, to learn stuff they don't need to know?????????

MORAL: Don't be too ready to judge others.... at least not until you think you qualify as God.

P.S. I'll prob continue this later.... but thinking about this kind of stuff makes my eyes water... and, well?

BTW... I'll eventually put all these in one file, in alpha order, and move them to the file section for your enjoyment. AFTER I get through bi**hing about a few hundred things that annoy me. - OLO:)
