The Women's Soccer Team began
competition in the Catholic League as a Junior
Varsity team in the fall of 1988. The following
year they moved into the Catholic League Varsity
"B" Division, where the Cougars made to the league
semifinals 3 times. In 1999 the Cougars began
competition in the newly formed IAAM B conference,
finishing 16-4-1 capturing the schools and the
IAAM's first ever championship. Steve Herpel, who
joined the women's program after spending a year as
the men's assistant coach, coaches the team. Coach
Herpel is a veteran official at both the high
school and college level, as well as a former coach
of different club teams in Harford County. Coach
Herpel is assisted by Ms. Susan Sipes and Ms. Kim
Gurski. Ms. Sipes an alumni of Mt Carmel played
three seasons at Cabrini College. Ms. Gurski, also
an alum played collegiately at St. Mary's College
of Maryland. The team begins training for the
season in the middle of August in hopes of bringing
the championship to Mt. Carmel. The team competes
against the likes of Bryn Mawr, Roland Park,
Severn, Towson Catholic, and Annapolis Area
Christian.
