Course Title:  Office Procedures & Records Management

 

I.                   Catalog Description and Credit Hours of Course:

 

This course provides an intensive study of procedures related to the office area.  Emphasis is placed on the co-worker relationships in the workplace, modern office equipment and its practical uses, telephone skills, and future trends in office maintenance.  The Records Management portion of the course is a practical application of current practices in managing the more common types of records and record keeping systems.  Course meets 4 hours per week.

III.             Purposes and Objectives of the Course:

 

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to

 

            Us technology to manage work

            Understand telephone techniques

            Demonstrate knowledge of reprographic resources

            Do scheduling, make appointments and receive visitors

            Understand the process of incoming and outgoing mail

            Make travel arrangements

            Demonstrate knowledge of filing systems

Week 3 – Copying Material

Week 4 – Scheduling, Making Appointments, and Receiving visitors

Week 5 – Incoming and Outgoing Mail

Week 6 – Making Travel Arrangements

Weeks 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 – Filing
