PHILOSOPHY

·        Philosophy of knowledge

How can humans know anything about the outer world ? How is that that the material world seems to obey mathematical rules? What are the limits of our knowledge ? These are some of the questions Kant famously answered in his Critique of Pure Reason.

Here you will find a substantial introduction (180 pages in French) to Kant's master work. It requires no prior knowledge and explains the book from A to Z - at least this was the aim !

·        Political Philosophy

Liberalism is nowadays the dominant point of reference in modern political thought. Still, its philosophical foundations are very fragile. Many philosophers have tried to provide it with a firm basis. Here are the discussions of two major attempts

         Berlin's foundation of Liberalism

         Stuart Mill's foundation of Liberalism

·        Philosophy of law

Law is the very substance of the European Union. The European Commission tries to present its work as more and more technical rather than political. This raises concerns over the legitimacy of its action. Here is a paper of 'applied philosophy' that answers a philosophical question within a concrete political context.

Is law a value free instrument?

·        Few more words

Philosophy began to be a passion of mine when I was 17. Special thanks to Bernard Picon from the Lycée Lavoisier,  Paris ; Xavier Renou from the Lycée Henri IV, Paris ; and John Gray from the London School of Economics.
