Brief discussion of our units!

HQ Dartry
Unit was formed in 1926. The reason why it is the only unit in CSI that has
no number is due to the fact that it is the oldest. It was founded before CSI
was formed and at that time two units claimed to be first Dublin and so Dartry
was given the title HQ and 1st Dublin was given to a unit which is now in Fairview.
HQ are also credited with having the first Irish scouting site on the web and in
this site there is quite an extensive history of the unit given and is well worth
a read, there is a link for the site in the links page.

Donnybrook Scout Unit, 3/40/41 Dublin

Unit was formed in 1927
It was given 3 charters i.e. 3rd/40th/41st as throughout its history it had
3 Scout Sections and charters used to be allocated to Scout Sections and
not Units as is currently the case.
The Units neckerchief is all red ( same as the Chief Scout ) and like all
Units one that we are very proud of.
The Unit is based in the Scout Hall in Brookvale Road, Donnybrook in a
premises that we own outright and are constantly developing.
We are currently a very large Unit with 2 Beaver Colonies, 2 Cub Packs, 2
Scout Troops, a Venturer Group and a Rovers Crew totalling over 220 active
members. We have an active and dedicated team of over 30 leaders and are
always open to new leaders getting involved ( no experience necessary,
we'll provide the training )
All the Sections are mixed i.e. male and female members and have been so
for over 10 years.
We also operate a unit web site which you should visit for further
information, there is a link for this web site in the links page.

63rd Dundrum
Unit Leader:- Alan Nugent
Dundrum was set up in 1970 and so is 29 years running. It was set up by
Michael Hasset. They started holding meetings in the basement of the Holy
Cross church which is in main St. Dundrum.
National H.Q. gave them the name 63rd Dublin Holy Cross unit. Dundrum now
hold their meetings in their own den situated in the Dundrum Family
Recreation Centre (D.F.R.C).
Their hall is certainly one to be proud of as it is large and great for
games. The smaller inner room is warmer and suitable for the administrative
and traditional part of the meeting.
Their is now 1 beaver colony, 2 cub packs, 2 scout troops and 1 venture
scout troop.
