Here is a small selection of my favorite books and a description of my hobbies:
Topics: Books, Malaysia, and Basketball
In my spare time I like to read adventure and aviation books. I do not limit myself to a certain area but I
rather like to research in many different directions and broaden my horizon.
My all time favorite adventure book is Jules Verne's "In 80 days around the world". I love to dive into the
world of Mr. Fog and explore with him all the exotic places that he visits on his journey.
Another book that I read frequently is Charles F. Banfe's "Airline Management". Although a little out of date
because it was written in 1992, it is still a invaluable resource to me. I like to reread it to refresh my
memory in all aspects of the airline management business. Some professors and I agree that it is still one
of the most useful and reader friendly management books for aviation administration students.
The last book in my favorite list is Kevin & Jackie Freiberg's "Nuts! - Southwest Airlines' Crazy Recipe for
Business and Personal Success". The innovative management style and business strategies implemented by
Herb Kelleher fascinate me. Personally, I like to be creative, discover new ways of doing things, and at
the same time keep my mind open for suggestions.
Among my other fields of interest is Malaysia. My fiancé comes from this beautiful country. She described
and showed me on pictures how it looks like over there; she told me what people eat, how they dress, and
many other things that I had no idea of. I like to learn about the many cultures and traditions that are present
there. Although I have not been there yet, I feel already very bonded with that place. Soon we will go there and
I have to confess that I am very excited.
Another hobby of mine is playing basketball. Also, I like to watch the NBA. What fascinates me in this sport is
that it is a team sport. A player who does not want to cooprate will not score. Only in an effective team can you
win. I think this is similar to the corporate world. The team as a whole, incorporating the skills of all members,
will in my opinion always be better than an individual; it will make the score and win the game.
