Pictures of my Progress.
I am not trying to do a Concours Restoration on this, just a NICE Daily Driver that I can be proud to show to others. Maybe the Carlisle GM Show someday

I put some gas in it on the way home and when I got here I put a battery in it and it fired right up. I drove it off the trailer and parked it where it sat for the winter.

1st order of business was the DIRTY engine. When I got it home I decided to try and clean it up a bit so the leaves don't ROT the car out any more. I just used some Simple Green and tried to get the majority of the dirt out of the engine bay.

Second thing I had to do was take all the speaker wire left in the interior OUT cause it was just lying on the carpet. When I opened the underdash panels I saw that some IDIOT cut the under dash light wires maybe for some STUPID neons!!!! WTF!!! And the Radio Harness was HACKED up. What MORON owned this car before me GEESH!

I gave the car a MUCH needed bath about a week ago and it has been raining here since so the pictures are of a wet car but it cleaned up pretty nice. Undercarriage is in good condition compared to what it would look like if it had 130k NY miles on it.

Have'nt cleaned the interior yet but it is not too bad all together. With a little cleaning it should look pretty damn NICE. Seats need to be repaired.

  2006

A little spring cleaning for the Calais. I washed it and cleaned the engine. Then I used Mothers Clay bar to get the mass of junk off the paint. Step 2 was Meguiars paint cleaner, 3 was Meguiars Polish, and last but not least was some Mothers wax. It turned out pretty good. There are some spots that need paint I dont know what I am going to do with the paint yet. I want to get it mechanically sound first.

As far as mechanical goes I replaced the transmission filter and fluid. Repaired the underdash light and radio harnesses, replaced the broken turn/cruise stalk with one from a 1988 Grand Am, I cleaned the power window switches in the drivers door and now both windows work, and I still need to figure out what is wrong with the wiper motor and replace the carpet on the door panels, then put the speakers WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO GO!!!

Nothing major happened in 2007 that I remember.

  2008

Transmission is better. The TV cable was out of adjustment. Shifts fine now.
