The College team started the season with intensive training in preparation for a tour of Northern Malaya. The tour of Perak, Kedah and Penang was carried out from 31st Jan 1978 to 5th Feb 1978. During this tour the Puteras had the opportunity to play against some of very best school teams in the country. We played a total of 9 games on this tour and lost 3 of them. The experience gained had been invaluable. We were well received everywhere and had projected a good image of the College to the schools. We take pride in saying our tour had helped to generate considerable interest in some potential applicants for admission to Boys Wing.

ln the MSSS tournament,once again we became the Bungsar District Champions. ln the inter-district tournament we overcame strong opposition to reach the finals played in Sekinchian. We were rather unlucky to lose to Sekolah Datuk Hamzah, Klang in the finals.

This year the College took part in the inter-unit games. We were champions in the Sungai Besi Cantonment rounds and then proceeded to become champions in the Kuala Lumpur Garrison finals. We thus qualified for a place in the inter-unit games at national level. We sacrificed our first term holidays to participate in these games. In this tournament we playing against adults and through sheer determination and good teamwork we reached the finals to play against a team studded with Armed Forces National Players. We put up a good fight but eventually lost to a superior team. The opportunity given to the Puteras to participate in these Inter-Unit Games had been made possible through the goodwill of the organisers. We hope that this goodwill will continue in the future.

The inter-company games were held during the first term. The competition was keenly fought and there was improvement in the standard of volleyball down the company lines. We are confident there will be further improvements in the future. D Company became the champions for this year. A tournament will be held for the fourth formers later this year to bring out some of the latent talents and to select some potential college players.

On the whole the College team had a very successful season this year. Out of a total of 24 games played (not including the Inter-Unit Games), we won 19 of them and lost 5. This success is mainly attributed to the close cooperation of the players and the encouragement of the master's-in-charge, the coach and the College authorities. We hope that the enthusiasm and hardwork put in by all concerned will continue.
