Soccer

The soccer season for the Boys Wing this year was as busy as that for 1977, with the trip to Johore Baru as the main attraction for the Boys. The College Under 18 took part in the Selangor Schools Sports Council Inter-School U - 18 Tournament as in previous years and the results of the games played at the Bangsar District Level were as follows;

* This game was awarded to us because the opponent fielded an over-aged player.

The College team met Victoria Institution at the Semi Finals and after drawing 2 - 2 with them at the end of extra time, lost at the penalty kicks 3 - 4.

In spite of the above results, six Puteras were selected to attend the Selangor Combined Schools Trials. They were Dzuikifli Muhamad, Mohd Taufiq, Cheng You Kien, Baktiar Nor, Mohd Rashid and Tan Chin Hau who is a Form 4 Putera. Among these Mohd Taufiq and Cheng were finally selected. The latter had to withdraw because of an ankle injury.

The disappointing result of the U - 18 Team was somewhat compensated by the performance by the U - 20 Team who went on a two game tour of Johore Baru, from 31 Jan - 3 Feb. They won both their games as show below:

The U 20's finest achievement was when they retained the Tun Razak Tophy against MCKK with a crushing 5 - 1 margin on 18th February.

At the domestic level two tournaments were successfully run off. The main tournament Inter Company Soccer League for the Piala Komandan. Below shows the final positions of the Companies at the end of the League.

The champion Company for 1978 is H Company.

Towards the end of the First Term an Inter-Class Six-a-side Tournament was held. This tournament which is normally held in the Third Term was brought forward by popular request from the Boys. Although this was a Knock-out Tournament, the weather and other factors prevented a decision from the finalists and as a result both the Form 5 Beta and the Lower Sixth Arts were declared the joint champions for 1978.

The Commandant Kol Murad for approving the trip to Johore Baru and his encouragement and support

The Director for his interest in the College Teams and his support.

The Chief Director Lt Kol Hussein for the use of the PTIs.

The Camp Commandant of the Johore Baru Garrison and his staff for allowing our boys to stay at the Garrison.

The Headmasters of Maktab Sultan Abu Baker and Sekolah Menengah Teknik for consenting to play against our Boys.

OC Boys Wing and his staff for acquiring the transport and attending to the various
other admin work throughout the season.
