The game against the Old Puteras was the curtain raiser of the rugby season this year. The match was evenly matched with both teams showing skillful rugby. Credit should be given to every one in the team who fought until the last minute. The match which ended 18 - 18 was a yard-stick our standard of rugby.

The team which consists of mainly last year players went into intensive training under Capt Ahmad Suhaini early second term. In the first inter-school match, RMC downed Cochran Road School 46 - 3. The College rugger team had an easy passage to the semi-finals in the other matches that followed. In the semi-finals, the team was taken aback by VI when they were leading the game all the way until the last 10 minutes. We managed to edge them out with an unconvincing 10 - 8 victory which enabled us to the finals. Credit should be given to the team for their fighting spirit.

The College rugger team toured the south during the early second term. We played 4 games altogether in which the first two, we beat Maktab Sultan Abu Bakar (16 - 0) and K.D. Pelandok, Singapore (16 - 0) easily. However, we were of no match to the top two schools rugger teams in Singapore that is, St. Andrew's School and Raffle's Institution. We lost to St. Andrew's School 21 - 6 and Raffles's Institution 21 - 0. Though we had lost, a lot of rugby skill and tactics were learnt from these two matches.

The College rugger team was given the honour to represent Selangor in the inter-state rugger tournament. In the first inter-state tournament against the champions of Negeri Sembilan, KGV, we won. We dominated the game with a triumphant 22 - 6 victory. We gained entry from this victory to the semi-finals.

The MSSM rugby semi-finals were played on the 30th of September 1978 in MSAB's ground in Johor Bahru. We were surprised by our opponents who held a 9 - 3 lead until the last twenty minutes. However the puteras did not give in that easily. Soon after we equalised, we put in another two goals which made the final score to 21 - 9.

In the Malaysian Schools rugger finals played in Malay College ground in Kuala Kangsar, we met King Edward the VII. Sad to say we were 'cheated' into winning this coverted championship. We lost 16 - 9 after conceding a very biased disadvantage from both lines-men and umpire itself.

Lastly, the college team would like to wish the team success in the coming years and thank our officer in charge for all their assistance.
