The Hindu Society has an enrolment of nineteen putras including five new putras.

Mr. Chakaravarthy, the former adviser of the society, was of great assistance. Unfortunately, we were unable to have him long with us because he was posted out to the Cochrane Road School. So in his honour, the Hindu Society held a farewell dinner on the 29th January, 1978, which everyone enjoyed thoroughly. The society was sad to leave such a highly dedicated person under whose guidance and advice the society achieved success.

Mr. K. A. Rajendram the Head of Science has replaced Mr. Chakaravarthy as the society's adviser.

The Thaipusam Day which fell on the 24th of January was memorable. The Hindu putras were granted permission to leave the college and visit Batu Caves. The putras left the college in the morning and came back at night with great satisfaction that they were able to participate in the ceremonies at the temple.

In relation to the Deepavali festival the Hindu Society held a Deepavali Social dinner. The dinner was arranged to be held in the College campus, but, instead, it had to be held at the residence of one of the putras due to some unavoidable circumstance. Since the dinner was successful, the society has decided to hold it again this year, immediately after the MCE examination.

As an annual affair, the society will have its Ubayam (special prayers) at the Court Hill Temple in Kuala Lumpur, and the date is likely to fall in September.

Due to the efficient services rendered by the Transport Company, the members were able to attend Friday prayers regularly. It is hoped that the Transport Company will keep this up.

A Hindu Society Library is in the process of being set up. A room has been obtained for this purpose and work is progressing well.

The committee under the advice of Mr. K. A. Rajendram, elected a new committee of officebearers for l978. They are as follows:-

Finally, the society would like to thank Mr. K. A. Rajendram for his kind and invaluable assistance advice.
