Meow! My
name is Bubba Taylor, but you can just call me Bubba. I'll be
13 on
November 28. Those 13 years sure have gone by fast and have been
a terrific
years. I'm a gray tabby with gray stripes. I have one ear but
we'll get to
that later!
My Meowmie
got me when I was just a couple months old. When I got out of
the
car to go in the house, the first sound I heard was the neighbor's
Harley
Davidson. It was really grey and misting outside so my Meowmie
decided that
I'd be named Misty. When I came into my new home, there was this
big white
cat, her name was Snowball. She became my friend immediately and
adopted me
like I was her own fur son. Mom worked during the day so it was
me and
Snowball during the day. Mom also always had people over which
I didn't
mind. There was always lots of treats and not many rules...Mom's
a sucker
for a furry face. Life was good, Mom, Snowball and myself.
Then one
day this man showed up at our house. He and Mom went out for a
few
hours. Mom always told me that I was the man so I wasn't sure
how I liked
this human guy. When they came home, the man heard a noise. Being
a human
male he looked all around the house and couldn't find the noise.
He looked
really confused, then he looked up and saw my laying on the top
of the door
looking down at them. This human man came around my house a lot
and it was
great when he brought treats. He also thought my name Misty was
silly for a
guy (I didn't like the name either and never came when called)
and told Mom
that I looked like a Bubba. So, Bubba I became!
On a December
day, my life changed for good. It was no longer Mom, Snowball
and I but instead Mom, Snowball, myself and dad! Mom said I was
still her
main guy, I like that. We moved to Dad's condo and I did slip
out the door
into the hall but all the front doors looked the same! Mom picked
me up and
brought me home...I don't go near the door anymore. When I was
about 7 years
old and Snowball was 14, dad brought home a surprise. The surprise
was a
really tiny kitten with big blue eyes. You've probably guessed
that they
named this kitten Jazmine....Jazzy for short. When I met Jazzy,
I hissed and
growled at her. In return, tiny Jazzy opened her mouth and out
came a sound
like a Lion! A big noise from a tiny kitten. I went to the closet
to think
things over. Snowball adored both Jazzy and me, I adored Snowball
and
tolerated Jazzy. A few months after Jazzy came to live with us,
Snowball
went to the Rainbow Bridge.
Life with
Jazzy was OK...she adored me and I thought she was a little pest!
I was never mean to her but I wasn't always nice either and she
still adored
me! Two years ago on Valentine's Day, dad told Mom she could get
another
kitten from the shelter. Enter Tabitha! Tabitha really worshiped
Jazzy so
that kept both girls out of my fur. Tabitha seemed to be a good
kid but a
bit rowdy.
One day
last year, Mom noticed a lump on my ear and we visited the vet.
The
vet told Mom that I have a mast cell tumor and they'd try to aspirate
it
and hope that it doesn't come back. They aspirated it and it did
come back.
The vet told Mom that they'd have to do surgery and that I may
end up losing
an ear. Mom stayed at the vet while they did the surgery and was
happy the
surgery went great...although not as happy as I was! They let
Mom come see
me even though I wasn't fully awake or even coherent. Mom came
to see me
and my 1 ear and I could hear her say "I love you Bubba"
It wasn't hard to
get adjusted to life with one ear and I still could do everything
I could
when I had 2 ears.
On September
4, Jazzy went to the Rainbow Bridge. Now its just me, Mom, dad
and Tabitha. I've never admitted this before but I really loved
Jazzy, and I
miss her. Our house isn't the same without her. Tabitha chases
me all the
time, plays with me even when I don't want to, and is just a nuisance.
Three years
ago, Jazzy and I became members of CLAW. It didn't take long
before I met my best buddy Max Poisson. Jazzy did a lot in CLAW
but I'm more
easy going. I became known as Jazzy's brother but at the same
time, Max was
known as Sassy's (Poisson) brother so we opened the Back Seat
Kitties
Support Group! I do a lot in CLAW but my favorite place is the
Back Seat
Kitties Support Group. I also have a wink-wink, too, Bonnie-Sue
Poisson. She
became my winkwink the night before I got my ear removed. I've
made some
good friends, the Poisson's, Tissy, Kitten K Boodles, Niklos,
Penny, Murph,
Jessie, Day-Late and family, Patrick and Gigi, Genghis Kahn and
many other
cats.
I've seen
and done a lot in my 13 years and I wouldn't trade any of it.
Mom
would be lost without me. Now I can be usually found laying on
top of the
cable box in the bedroom or at the food dish. Every night I sleep
next to
Mom. I still jump from the floor to on top of doors and hang out,
I get on
mom's dresser and push things off the dresser (mom says I'm proving
the
theory of Gravity) and even play when I'm in the mood.
By the time
you read this, I will be getting another little sister. On Nov
3, Mom is bringing home a 9 week old kitten. So now, it will be
Mom, dad,
Tabitha, Samantha and...me!
