Mew, Older Cats! My name
is BamBam and I am 18 years old. I am a
dignified old lady cat in spite of my silly name! I haf been in
the
Older Cats Society fur a long time. I knew this was the place
fur me the
first time I saw it. I am so purrleased and purroud to be chosen
as the
Senior Spotlight cat this month, and I thank mew furry much! Maybe
I am
usually sleeping, and don't get around much when I am awake. My
old
bones are tired and achy with something called arthritis, but
I am still
quite emphatic about what I like. I enjoy contributing my thoughts
from
time to time on matters that concern us cats. These are the only
matters
really worth my time now.
I haf had a furry long
life and seen many things. I am the elder cat in
my house, other cats haf come and gone - nefur mind that I was
responsible fur most of them coming myself in my youth! When I
was a 6
week old baby and furst came home to my new mom, the furst thing
she did
was to step on my tiny foot and hurt me! She was so sorry and
so guilty
fur hurting me, I had her wrapped around my paw from the furry
beginning. Besides, she thought I was adorable. I was. (She also
thought
I was a boy. I wasn't.) And now I haf been with her longer than
her
human children were, longer than anybody else in her life.
Life was hard when I
was young. I ate whatever was available and often
went into the woods to hunt my own dinner. I was a good huntress,
and
always taught my kittens to hunt well, in case they efur had to
support
themselves. But I do haf an easy life now and I get furry good
care and
the best of food. My mom is my best friend in life, and my dearest
love
was Sacha ben Patches, who has been gone for 14 years. We were
wedwinks,
and he was the father of my last living daughter, Mewsette, who
is with
me to this day. She is a furry loving comfort to me in my old
age,
except she never stops talking. Efury time I wake up, she is chattering.
I haven't gotten a word in edgewise fur 14 years. But I'm happy
to say
she nefur made me a grandmother! I was an excellent mother, of
course,
but it makes me tired just to think about it!
I think my vocation in
life has been to be a psychological advisor and
comforter to my mom, and I still offer my services today, when
needed. I
feel that older cats are the best experts at comforting humans
- it
seems to come to us naturally. That means we are furry needed
and
important. Besides my daughter Mewsette, who is also in the OCS,
we haf
a much younger kitty in our family too, Phelicity. She is only
8. I haf
nefur been thrilled that she is here, but at least she does show
me
proper respect, and she seems to worry if I don't feel well. I
guess
she's okay. We 3 girls are all inside cats now, which I prefur.
Our mom calls us the 3 Queens, which is of course true. I haf
now turned
over full rule of our realm to my daughter, so I can sleep more
and
enjoy my elder catship. It is a good life and I only do things
I really
like, such as purrticipating in the OCS. But from time to time,
the iron
paw of BamBam is still required around here, and I am still equal
to the
challenge.
I am purroud to be a
Older Cat! I believe we should all be purroud of
it!
Purrs,
BamBam
