The bottles featured were filled at the Bickford Aerated Water factory in Waymouth St, Adelaide, during the late 1870s.
Among the maugham's patent bottles is a flat based variant.
The whole concept of the round-ended bottle was that it's shape prevented it from being stood upright.
The idea behind the bottles shape was to ensure that it was always stored in a lying position keeping the cork moist, and the gaseous liquid intake. |
