A portion of the
extremely rare
Horn family collection
Underglazed transfer printed - crown seal stone ginger beer. 1927

Joseph Onesimus Ladd founded his ginger beer and aerated water factory from premises in Rundle St, Adelaide, SA, in 1849.

He enjoyed great success in business, and moved socially in very prominent circles.

He gifted the Adelaide Zoo with it's first tiger.

After Joseph's death in 1882, the solid business foundations he laid down, enabled his widow and sons to continue the business right up until 1957.

This round-shouldered crown seal bottle attributed to Joseph Onesimus Ladd
(jnr) and made at the Epson pottery in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.

The bottle would date 1927, and most certainly would be the last stoneware bottle used by this company.

This round-shouldered style bottle is very rare, with perhaps 5 to 10 known.
