Hi All. Now risen to the dizzy height of sat supervisor on the Sapphire with ISS. Life has gone a bit downhill recently as Joanne has sacked me.

FROM: SHANE COWTAN
My wife runs a DPV rental service in Koh Tao Thailand, and we have come across a problem we feel that all prospective purchasers of DPV's should know. We have recently bought EIGHT of the New Seadoo Explorer DPV's from Stallion Asia who are licensed by Seadoo Bombardier to manufacture and distribute Seadoo DPV's. On Arrival , THREE of the Brand New Explorer's flodded the gearbox/motor housing , the factory sealed unit. It seems that Seadoo have for the last couple of years at least, ignored the problems arising from their licensees in Hong Kong , and totally ignored purchaser's of their product . I would like to hear from anybody who has had any bad experiences with SEADOO products, I feel that Seadoo/Bombardier should accept responsibility for any product they wish to put their name all over, Shane Cowtan. Started with Taylor Diving in Bahrain in 1980 but spent most of my time with CCC U/W Eng Ltd. Left the game in 1988 - used up too many lives and didn't want to be another divorce statistic! Spent 18 years as an Air Traffic Control Officer in the Royal Air Force and 'retired' 2 years ago (too good an offer to turn down ... redundancy package + pension and ....)transferred to the Royal Australian Air Force! Presently in VIC instructing RAAF ab-initio air traffic control students. Easy life, easy money (more than I was ever earning as a diver!) and plenty of sun, sea and sand! Only thing missing is a decent pint! [email protected]

TO ALL EX-COMEX DIVERS. You will have seen the posting on the notice board from Martyn West advertising for old Comex Rolex diving watches etc. This gentleman is probably quite a genuine advertiser and a nice guy, but before you part with your treasured diving watch please be aware of the following - My own Comex Rolex was issued to me in Aberdeen (sold to me!) in 1974 or 1975 - it was recently valued at $13,000+ because of the special Comex relationship. My previous diving Rolex Submariner Chronometer which my wife wears - now known as a 'red submariner' - was bought in Saudi in 1972 for the lowly figure of 72 - that has been valued at $4,500 - $5,000. If you do some research on the Internet you will be staggered at some of the prices that older Rolex watches are fetching! Mine is too sentimental and will never be sold, but at least if you do decide to sell your own Rolex diving watches, do so in the knowledge of what they are really fetching on the open market. Better still, if you have sons like I have, leave them behind for them when you go! I have even stopped diving with mine just in case! (Yes - I still dive - there are old diver and bold divers etc . . . . )Information to: [email protected]

I'm a doctor and recreational diver living in Plymouth. I collect old divers' watches from the 1950s-1970s as a hobby, and I would be very grateful if there is anyone out there who has an old dive watch that they are prepared to sell. I am particularly looking for ex-military dive watches, such as the Omega Seamaster 300 from the 1960s and the Rolex Submariner from the 1970s, and old civilian Rolex dive watches, in any condition, working or not. If you can help, or know someone who can, do please get in touch. Information to:[email protected] Thanks, Martyn.

I left the RN in 85 as a leading diver and after a few weeks working with SAR diving of Helston in Cornwall I joined Stolt Nielsen Seaway where I have been ever since. At the CD's 50th anniversary I saw for the first time in almost 20 years two people who helped me get work when I left the mob. ( Don Hodge and Terry Gosling )I don't think either of them realy remembered me as my connection was through a friend of their sons but at the time they showed me much support and I will be eternaly grateful. Found myself in Singapore in October (2002) for a few days and spent a lot of the time with Des and Sue Power. Des is doing good with Subsea7 and looking good too. We spent quite a bit of time in Raffles Long Bar where no tigers were shot but plenty got necked (think about it). Des and Sue took me down to Clark and Bottle Quay where copius amounts of beer were consumed and lots of local nosh eaten at a resturant by the river. Thanx Des, I'd invite you to Nottingham but I'd rather visit you in Singers. [email protected]
