Elf, High

Noble lords of the fae, also called the sidhe (cf. Sidhe, SH).

- Court: Either

- Birthrights:

- Frailties: Empathic Blindness: High elves are unable to understand the needs and wants of commoners and mortals. They have two of the following negative traits (or one twice) applicable in Social challenges (including Presence challenges) against anyone who is not a noble fairy: Callous, Condescending, Tactless.

- Immunity: High elves gain a free retest against any spell or Discipline power that would directly cause him or her to look foolish. Indirect spells or mundane pranks are not affected, and if the high elf is part of a group targeted by the spell, others will be affected normally.

- Bans: High Elf Birthrights fail against mortals who deny the elf's power over them (requiring a face-to-face statement to this effect and a successful Social challenge [for which the elf's Birthrights are of course still valid]); [and one of player choice].

- Weakness: Cold Iron.

- Binding: A high elf that is publicly humiliated in front of his peers or his vassals by a mortal loses access to all supernatural powers until he somehow finds a way to regain face. To humiliate a high elf, a Social "staking" challenge may be necessary; the elf may "dodge" with Etiquette or Leadership.

- Regaining Mana: Nearly any, although the High Elves prefer when possible to use methods that do not require dependence on mortals.

- Preferred Disciplines: Chimerstry, Dominate OR Presence, Thaumaturgy (any common Starting Paths for fae).

- Origin: High elves are almost exclusively of Otherworldly Origin; those who are not and were aware of their true natures are so few as to defy generalization.

- Appearance: High elves are of slender build and usually taller than humans, with almond-shaped eyes and pointed ears. The colors of their eyes, skin, and hair include human possibilities, but more frequently are inhuman and can be nearly anything, although they will always be pleasing combinations. The inhuman beauty of the sidhe is normally unmistakable, and those who deign to disguise themselves as mortals will likely require the Seeming Background.
