Avatars of the Muses (cf. DD pp. -).
- Court: Unseelie
- Birthrights:
- Frailties: Art Appreciation: [The
Toreador clan disadvantage; see LotN Revised]
- Immunity: Favor of Far-Shooting Apollo:
Muses gain free retests against attacks using thrown weapons or archaic projectiles
(unless they are tipped with cold iron). This Immunity requires that the aonid
be in her true form.
- Bans: never let anyone claiming to be better than you at your
chosen art go unchallenged; never let anyone who IS better than you at your
chosen art go unpunished.
- Weakness: Cold Iron
- Binding: if an aonid falls in love with a mortal, she becomes
mortal herself. Magic that artificially creates feelings of such love will cause
her to lose access to her powers (including her Birthrights, her Immunity and
the ability to spend Mana for any purpose except daily survival, but excluding
actual immortality and supernatural disadvantages) for as long as the love-spell
lasts. In this case, a "staking" Challenge will be necessary.
- Regaining Mana: Reverie, Seductive Ravaging, use of the Rhapsody
Discipline. The aonid's lack of confidence in her own artistic abilities precludes
Rapture.
- Preferred Disciplines: Melpominee, Presence, Rhapsody
(custom Discipline)
- Origin: Most aonides are of Otherworldly origin and eager to
resume their work among humans. Those who remained on Earth and remembered their
true natures sought out their sisters, and chances are good that aonides of
Earthly origin have Allies or Contacts among other aonides or
Earthly fae and have managed to hold on to or learn a bit of Lore.
- Appearance: Aonides appear much like humans, usually women,
of striking but not necessarily supernatural appearance. Those of Rank 1 or
2 who eschew the vaguely Graeco-Roman dress favored by aonides can pass as human
with minimal effort, even without the Seeming Background.
- Special: Aonides have access to a special Discipline called Rhapsody that allows them to steal Mana from humans by inspiring them to higher levels of artistic achievement.
