OH SNAP! RECORDS

this friday: DFA goes to providence! that shit is confirmed, bitch! a new oh snap project is in the works as of the other day: the ohsnap! music DVD thingy. yeah, i don't have a name for it yet, but whatever. basically, starting now, i'm trying to get everyone to record oh snap! bands' shows and tomfoolery to compile a big deal video thing to be on DVD (and probably VHS as well). i also plan on recording some full sets with separate audio recording so the sound quality will be hot. there will probabaly be a DFA, ESE, and midriff full set on there or something. i'm hoping the DVDs will only need to be sold for something cheap like $5, so that's awesome. a cd with the audio from the live sets will be included with the DVD, so like DVD/CD release or something. yeah, who knows? it's going to be a big project and you kids all need to help out by going to shows and documenting that shiznol. as for the PF/NF split, the sleeve packaging just came in the mail, and i made all the covers and they look pretty slick. the cover image is printed on a construction paper sleeve, so there are like 7 or 8 different colors to choose from. i'm pretty sure i'm going to press 60 of these babies for now, and, if need be, i'll make more, but i don't think they'll go too fast, since neither PF nor NF play shows like ever, but we'll see. heh, the fact that nick ferrante is on the cover is gonna make this thing worth the $3 all by itself.

well, i guess i'm kind of redesigning the site, or i guess tweaking it is more fitting. last time i redesigned the releases page, and now i've redone the entire bands section, the main page and every band page. adding some stuff and just making some things less ugly. so like, don't be surprised if stuff looks different. so, like, real news: some shows confirmed and some new ones added. the show on the 27th is still in limbo, and has been decided for and against probabaly 50 times since it was suggested. heh. basically shawn isn't sure if he can get back in time and nick b isn't sure if bands can play. so, yeah. the other unconfirmed ones seem pretty much reliable though, so like, yeah. also, the PF/NF split should be out mid/late-march when i'm home from spring break. expect a cd release show. hopefully that shit works out alright. blah... i'm way too busy a boy. got too much to do with all my schoolwork and then all this crap and my other random projects that take up all my time alone in my room, let alone actually getting to see my friends and family. hm. summer come quick. peace out, boys and girls.

whoah whoah, news news! although midriff just dropped ohsnap!'s fourth release not half a month ago, a new everysmithever ep release is on the near horizon. although chris has recorded a few songs with me all fancy-like, those recordings probably won't be released for a couple months, as i'm still trying to finish the DFA record, which should be all recorded 100% vocals-and-all in the next two days (FUCK YEAH!). this new ESE ep will be five new songs chris recently recorded with mike beadoin. i haven't heard it yet, but i like know it's gonna be good, so here come's oh snap number five! also, i started an everysmithever mp3 page, which will have more (and mostly new) music up soon:

hm. it's been a month since i've updated this piece... let's see... developments... ok, well, first off, THE MIDRIFF EP IS ALL DONE AND IT FUCKING ROCKS. sorry about the caps, but, seriously folks, "BiMonocle Man "(OS!#4) kicks some ass. i'll make a page for it on the releases section soon. the xmas comp has been postponed due to lack of progress. heh, i think it'd be better to have an anti-xmas record released in the summer, anyway, don't you? i just didn't have enough time to work on both the comp and the DFA full-length this vacation. the record, by the way, is coming along quite well, and vocals will most definately be recorded by this coming weekend, and (if i'm lucky), i can get the bastard all mixed down in the following week. there are some parts that are sounding so good they like give me chills. i'm glad my recording venture is working out, as it'd be a shame to put in all this time and end up with something that sounded like ass. IN OTHER NEWS, many of you may have noticed that mp3.com is dead. well, weep no more, 'cause there are some replacement sites that are even better, ohsnap! and DFA now have mp3 sites on hxcmp3.com. on the ohsnap! site a whole bunch of assorted mp3s are up by everysmithever, peter ferrante, midriff, and more. and on the DFA site, the entire 6-track demo is available for download on this new site, as mp3.com would only allow 3 songs to be available at one time for non-paying customers. midriff also has a new mp3 site, although it is not entirely operational yet. check out that shit.

haha, this is like the first news update ever that wasn't done at some obscene hour of the night. hot. anyway, i redid the opening page (with all the circles and crap), so if it still looks the same, just hit 'refresh' and it should load the new one. the xmas (or anti-xmas, i suppose) compilation seems to be coming along quite well. tim did a sort of collage song that came out pretty sweet, and xbkx has a song written, as well as ESE! woo hoo! yeah, awwwwwwww shit, AND, the midriff EP is gonna be out like WAY SOON. like a week or something. i've heard 3 of the 5 songs and, i must say, not only am i impressed, but i can't stop fuckin listening to them. i think they're gonna make a first run of em by themselves, and then maybe we'll get some fancier packaging or some shit and do up that shit, #4 for oh snap!. and with the xmas comp coming out, this is gonna be a productive month for the label. also recording a new ESE record and mixing the DFA lp, as well as doing something with the first Nicholouse Ferrante recording session. friends' band robust also was talking about getting back together to record. We could be looking at a whole horde of releases coming up in the new couple months, and i'm damn excited about that.

holy shit, it's late. i'm so going to bed like way soon. anyway, you may have noticed that it's been almost exactly a month since my last update. this is due to the fact that geocities pretty much died for a month and wouldn't let me get on until yesterday. pretty annoying. so finally i've been able to clean a few things up on the site, although there's more still to do. i filled in the song titles for the everysmithever releases. pretty exciting, eh? yeah, well there is actually some kinda big news. earlier tonight (well, technically last night, since it's kind of becoming morning) i was having some dumb argument with tibbetts about how stupid xmas (a.k.a. Present Day) compilations are. yeah, so, basically i got the brilliant idea to make an oh snap xmas compilation. what are there, 18 days unil xmas? heh, well, hopefully that's enough to pull this thing together. it's not exactly your average christmas album, as you can probably tell by it's tentative title Merry Fucking Christmas, Whore! Basically i wanna geta bunch if my friends bands to do some fucked up xmas-themed covers or originals. i think xBKx is going to do a song (their first complete song ever), and i DFA, midriff, covered wagon, nicholouse ferrante, the juniper clause, and more have showed interest in contributing to the project. yeah. i like made a cover design. check it. oooh, also, i just wanted to mention how awsome the DFA show with midriff and ESE was. thanks to everyone who came, to my mom for supplying an awesome venue and for being really nice, to that neighbor lady for not complaining, and to the cops for not showing up.

ok, lots of updates, let's see... most importantly, i'm happy to announce that midriff is "officially" (haha) part of the ohsnap! family! my whole plan with ohsnap! is to help document me and my friends bands that i'm into and i feel deserve to be documented, and i've always felt midriff was one of those bands. OK, so other news, i added a shitload of new pictures to the photo section and made band pages for midriff and everysmith- ever. umm... art section... lyrics... basically just don't forget to look at the otha'shit section, there's a whole bunch of shit in there. peace, yo.

again, lots of updates. lots of pics added, write ups for ESE releases. the mp3s from the dfa demo on mp3.com have been changed, so if you don't have the whole demo, you can download some more. once again, it's late, adios kids. oh yeah, i almost forgot. www.ohsnaprecords.tk is like the new address, kinda. use that instead of the regular geocities one so you won't have to keep closing the popups.

yeah. i totally didn't go to bed until 7 this (the 2nd) morning and didn't get up until 5:30. crazy. the site is comin' along pretty well, though. lot's of stuff added in the other shit and bands section, as well as releases and yeah, basically a hell of a lot more.
