Junior Bible Quizzing is a ministry of the United Pentecostal Church International Sunday School Division. The primary objective is to teach children the Word of God as we are commanded in the sciptures. Each year new material is selected for learning and memorization. The ability to retain and recall the scriptures is then put to the test in what is referred to as Bible Quizzing.

Teams of 3-5 children, ages 7-11, are formed at affiliated churches that then compete against each other in tournaments throughout the state. Each Quiz consists of 15 questions of varying levels of complexity and point value.   Adding to the emphasis on quick recall is the aspect of interrupting. A quizzer may attempt to interrupt the question if they are able to anticipate the type of question. They must then finish the question accurately and then give the answer. This makes for intense and exciting competition.

If a team gives an incorrect answer, one half the point value is deducted from their score. If an interrupted question is ruled incorrect, one half the point value is lost, but then the opposing team is given a re-read of the same question without interruption.

The team that finishes with the most points at the end of the quiz is the winner. Individual awards are given after each quiz for first and second highest scorers and an all-tournament team is named at the end for the highest scoring individuals.

The sharp memory and quick recall demonstrated by the children is awesome. In addition to the annoiting of God's Word upon these children as they devote themselves to intense study, they develop team-work and leadership skills and gain confidence and self-esteem.
