Mannon's Message
A message from Lita Mannon,
Promoter of Miss Ohio Gay Pride

As we begin the 2007 pageant season of Miss Ohio Gay Pride, I would like to welcome the preliminary promtoers back to the system. We are very fortunate to have some of the best promoters that Ohio has to offer and I thank you all for believing in this system and returning for another year of pageantry.
We are downsizing this year and will have only 10 preliminaries leading up to Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2008. We hope that this will help preliminary promoters gain more contestant interest in their respective preliminaries.
As you start planning your preliminary pageants, I would like to offer some helpful hints in making your preliminary pageant a huge success. First of all , please do not think that you need to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to have a successful pageant. Promotion and advertising are the best tools to use while preparing for your pageant and will, ultimately, be the driviing force behind your success. Although it may be nice to have one, or even two expensive "celebrity" entertainers to perform at your pageant, having local, talented entertainers - who will perform for free or even a nominal booking fee, can prove to be just as entertaining for your audiences.
The name of the game is to stir contestant interest. Your current titleholder should take much of this responsibility on her shoulders as part of her duties as the current reigning queen. As a preliminary titleholder, she should have started "drumming" up contestants for next year, as soon as she was crowned. Please hold your titleholders to their responsibilities and also to help you prepare for this year's pageant. Afterall, this year's pageant wiill honor them and their hard work. Let them be part of the planning for this celebration. They can be a tremendous help to you.
There are many qualified judges who will be an asset to your pageant and many who will judge your pageant and/or entertain for no pay at all. Many entertainers will welcome the opportunity to perform for a pageant audience for tips and will expect nothing from the promoter but to be a part of a professional, entertaining evening. Remember that other preliminary promoters may also serve as judges for your pageant and will provide you with a judge who is knowledgeable about the system.
The Ohio Gay Pride System is very, very fortunate to have such dedicated titleholders who have served as Miss Ohio Gay Pride in the past. Any one of them would be happy to help with your planning and they would be eager to participate in your event, as an entertainer, judge, or emcee. Any of the Miss Ohio Gay Pride titleholders can be reached through our website, www.ohiogaypride.com. On the "Royalty" page, you will find links to each titleholder's email address. Do not forget to call on the current reigning Miss Ohio Gay Pride for any help that you may need. Paige will be attending every preliminary pageant and will be responsible for helping to make your pageant a successful one. Paige's email link can also be found on our website.

It is my intention to help you have a fun, cost-effective event without spending your out of pocket money. A pageant can pay for itself with the proper planning and with the help of dedicated individuals.
I am also available to help you in any way. I will be attending as many prelims as my work schedule will allow this year. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any assistance you need.

With Pride,
Lita Mannon
