Passion's Point
A Message from Paige Passion,
Miss Ohio Gay Pride 2007

Hello all, I have had such a whirlwind of a month. So many exciting things have happened since I've been crowned Miss Ohio Gay Pride. I made my first appearance at Somewhere Else the following Friday and on Saturday was off to Dayton to entertain and work with some wonderful entertainers. I had the wonderful chance to spend some time with my OGP sister Aleixs O'hara and of course Montana "momo" Mcdaniels which is always enjoyable. Dayton is such a great area of our state and if you get a chance to go visit and hang out with the folks at Masque I highly recommend it!! Great fun great times, and a FABULOUS venue!! Thanks for welcoming me back it is greatly  appreciated!!

Now onto the first installment of the Passion's Point in the Pride of Ohio NEWSLETTER. The focus in this issue is how to mentally prepare for competition. START NOW!! One of the first things that I have learned in competition is never let anyone intimidate you from doing your best. Too many times I hear in pageants one contestant backing out because so and so is entering. This never has made any sense to me at all. If there is a goal that you have set for yourself why are you going to allow someone else to determine your destiny. If, you have determined that you are going to do a pageant then there should be nothing stopping you from achieving that goal. There should no longer be the focus on "big name" is doing the pageant and I can't because I am not good enough The only person that you need to focus on is YOU! There is nothing you can do to change what they are going to present in front of the judges on that same evening. So, therefore it shouldn't matter whom you are competing against no matter of what they have accomplished in the past. The only thing that you can improve, and put your 110% into is yourself and your package. And quite frankly, it doesn't matter what anyone else brings to the plate, as long as you bring the very best that you possibly can. And, for you to be completely confident in yourself and your package, and it is in your heart that you are doing the right thing. If you are not comfrotable competing alongside of someone at a city prelim how are you going to compete against that person at the state level. Competition should never be something done just on a whim or just because so and so said that you should do it. If it  isn't in your heart to do something  in your package or wear a certain thing then do not do it. If you need advice about what to do in a pageant whether it is hair, or what gown to wear or to get ideas. By all means ask people discuss get ideas, but the key point is to listen. Listen to what people tell you and what they think. Get ideas from all sorts of people . Folks directly involved in the pageant world and not. If you make yourself a well rounded contestant that has done their  homework and has dotted their i's and crossed their t's. This makes for a strong contestant and no matter what someone has done in the past or their accomplishments up to this time mean nothing. You are placing yourself in front of the judges as an equal person and will be judge fairly on the same level as any other contestant. At this time you can show that you have prepared yourself and have come to the pageant as a prepared contestant ready to achieve your goal. I leave you with one thought, start your mind working and your wheels truning to get ideas and start preparing NOW!! Hopefully this helps and will strengthen you as a contestant and helps with your preprations for this next year in Ohio Gay Pride Pageantry. If you  need any help with anything, don't hesitate to contact me. May you all have a wonderful holiday and I wish you nothing but the best!! Merry Christmas, and  have a Happy New Year!!

With Love and Pride,
