James Madison Berry (c.1810/13-1845) moved from Mason County, Kentucky to Daviess County, Indiana in the mid 1830's along with the families of his father and several brothers.

J. M. Berry was said to have been a contractor in the early 1830's and built or helped build the first brick courthouse in Washington, Daviess County, Indiana. He died in Washington Twp., in 1845.
