Title: Bye Bye, Brunei
Even in Hollywood it often happens that movies
are made about life, real life, added, twisted and taken out of context,
but life nevertheless.
In my first digitally produced video, this topic, life, was the easiest
to choose. Make no mistake, Bye Bye Brunei is by no means a feature
film. I would like to think of it more as a documentary. Actually,
it's more like a observation video.
Ok ok, here's the story. From the middle of 1999 till the middle of
2000 I worked in Brunei Darussalam. To be kind, I'll call it a weird
country. Nevertheless, the work was interesting and the people even
more so - hence, enough footage for this video. If you weren't on
the project I think you'd find it a bit boring, but to those of us
who lived the life, it's very entertaining. |

Here's the Blurb on the cover...
(It takes me hours you know)
For a short time in my life I had the privilege of working with a
group which few people ever have the chance to experience.
People so talented in their own right, with tales to tell from a range
of adventures and who are characters you've before only met in movies.
People who could entertain you for hours, or tell you things you never
knew. From competitive Australians, through passive Dutchmen to loud
and cocky Englishmen, the project had it all.
This group of people is tied to each other by an equally unique factor.
A project, based in a country you've never heard of, doing things
you'll never talk of. A truly international effort, including people
from 5 continents and countries to many to mention. All genders, ages
and races working together, the way it is supposed to be. Although
work was the most prominent activity, it was by far not the most exciting.
This group of people would show me the best time I've ever had, take
me to places I've never been and introduce me to things I never thought
of. An experience on so many levels, that images can only start to
describe them. This project, was Project Gem.
The strangest assignment you'll ever be on, in the most peculiar country
that you will never visit again.
