The history and evolution of the Econodogs brought to you by Paul "the man" Stipack
The Econodog was a brainchild of one Paul Stipack. He liked this little upcoming band called Powderfinger. He set up a fan page
on the internet for Powderfinger in about August 1996. Sometime in May 1997, he decided to try and start a mailing list to spread
the word about the band. He headed to the credits of Parables For Wooden Ears to find a name for
the list - the word "Econodog" magically jumped out at him. Early June 1997 saw the first ever Econodog
digest sent out to about 20 people. Over the years people have come and gone, topics have changed and topics have stayed the
same... and the clan that call themselves the Econodogs has grown to about 550 people.
Dedicated Econodogs wear Econodog
T-shirts out and about... some have stickers on their bumper bars... some people have Econodog
tattoos (yet to be confirmed!).
If you're thinking of joining the humble Econodogs, I can
vouch that every person on the list is a fine and noble
individual (yes that's you reading this). We don't claim to
be anything special, we are just brought together by something
very special - awesome musicians making awesome music.
