Dissection in schools is unnecessary and should be banned! Dissections teaches children that animals are merely there for our needs and our disposal.
In our modern world with all the technology is dissection really the only way?

Alternatives-
Videos, TV programs, Internet, Models, Pictures, Computer programs
Facts-
Every year 5.7 million animals are dissected in secondary and college science classes.
Frogs are the most commonly dissected animals but cats, mice, rats, worms, dogs, rabbits, fetal pigs and fish are also dissected.
Some of the cats dissected were companion animals that had escaped from their homes.
Many animals are taken illegally from their natural habitat.
What you can do-
Speak up! If you discover that in one of your classes you will be dissecting an animal tell your teacher why you object to dissection and that you refuse to dissect. Gain the support of some of your classmates aswell by explaining to them why it is cruel and unnecessary. Tell your teacher of some alternatives.
If you feel strongly about dissection you can write to your elected officials about your concerns of dissection. For more information you can contact the
WSPA who will give you tips on how to address the matter and contact details.
