| There are so many great things to say about the first Irunmole, sn. sn is the owner of the river that bears the same name in Nigeria, West Africa. The river runs a long life, but the most important spot in the river is in Osogbo where sn established her worship center. sn is our mother, as well as our friend. There are over 40 personalities, manifestations, or roads of sn each with their own specific likes and dislikes. For example, some sns love to eat snails, while others hate it and will always refuse it as an offering. Even though she is most famous in Osogbo, she also has gb followers in Ibadan even though there is no river here, Ijesa, Lagos, as well as all over Nigeria. sn's most popular qualities are those of motherhood and love life. Women all over the world, especially in Osogbo, pray to sn for pregnancy and help in their marriages. Every year at the annual sn festival in Osogbo women line her river and drink from it, bathe from it, and offer sacrifices to it so their wishes can be fulfilled. You can also find women at the river giving thanks to sn for having answered their prayers in the past. Through slavery sn took on different characteristics. In Brazil, the largest rs worshipping population in the Western Hemisphere, sn is manifested with Nossa Senhora da Conceio Aparecida, a beautiful Black Madonna Virgin Mary. In Cuba she became La Caridad del Cobre, a white Virgin Mary. When sn is greeted in prayer and at feasts, her followers scream out in praise "Ore, Yeye o!" Though her likes and dislikes vary depending on the specific manifestation of sn, in general she may like things of white, red, or yellow;gold;copper;bronze color. She loves traditional Nigerian jewelry, bronze bracelets and beautiful beads. There are so many versions of stories for sn out there, please follow the links below to read her stories in the different traditions. |
