FAMILY HOME FIRE ESCAPE

Draw a floor plan of your home showing two escape routes from each room (one way out might be the door, the other could be a window).  Make sure everyone in your home is familiar with the plan.

Choose a meeting place outside where everyone can meet after theyve escaped.

Hold home fire drills at least twice a year.  Make sure everyone in the household takes part.

Practicing your escape plan can be fun.  Pretend some exist are blocked or practice your escape in the dark.

Have a grown-up sound the alarm at night to make sure that everyone wakes up.  If they dont, make sure a family member is assigned to wake people and help them escape.

MAKE SURE THAT:

You have enough smoke alarms in the right places.

All the alarms are working.

You know what to do what when you hear the sound of an alarm.

IF YOU HEAR A SMOKE ALARM

Leave immediately.

If your escape is blocked, use another route.

Go directly to your outside meeting place.

Dont go back inside until the fire fighters say its okay.
