Like branches on a tree, we grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one and our lives will always be a part of each others. The O’Donald FamilyThanks for visiting our little family website. If you’ve been searching for members of the O'Donald or O'Donnell clan then you’ve come to the right place. Since our family and friends have begun to spread out, and we don't get together as often as we should, Eloise and I thought it would be a good idea to create a website for our family. With this site you can check out our family history, our family tree, get help searching for a family member, see family photos, and maybe even check out what some of us have been doing during the past year. We thought this would be a great way to keep everyone updated on our world, and what is happening with our kids, family, work etc. We Need Your Help We are the chosen. In each family there is one who seems called to find their ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called, as it were, by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors, "You have a wonderful family; you would be proud of us." How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do the things I do. It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying I can't let this happen. The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep pride that the fathers fought and some died to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. It is of equal pride and love that our mothers struggled to give us birth, without them we could not exist, and so we love each one, as far back as we can reach. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are they and they are the sum of who we are. So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family. It is up to that one called in the next generation to answer the call and take my place in the long line of family storytellers. That is why I do my family genealogy, and that is what calls those young and old to step up and restore the memory or greet those whom we had never known before. So please step up and help us. Send us any family photos or information that you would like included on this website. We hope that this site will make it easier for all of us to stay in touch... Patricia Kathleen O'Donald Ford Finding Your Way Around this Website For those of you who do not know your way around the internet... when I say something like "Click on the Home Page button", it means that you should place your cursor over the button that contains the text shown in bold type and then press the left button on your mouse once. This will activate a link that will take you to whatever page the bold text indicated. This page is our home page and is the starting point for all of the other pages on our website. To visit different pages, go to the buttons on the left side of this page and select the web page that you want to visit. You can return to this home page at any time by clicking the Home Page button from any other page on our website. When you are ready to read a short history about the O'Donald family, click the Family History button. When you are ready to start your journey through our family tree, click the Family Tree button. The Family Tree page is the starting point for all of the family pages on our website. After you have studied the tree, move your cursor over the name of the family member that you want to learn about. If there is a link to that person's family page, your cursor will change into a hand. When this hand appears, click the name and you will be taken to their family page. If I have not created a page for someone, their name will not have a link attached to it. Once you have been taken to a family members page, you will be able to follow links to their children's pages by clicking the button that has the name of the child whose page you wish to visit. While you are here, why not check out your family page and make sure that all of your information is current and correct. If your family page doesn't have any information on it... it is because we did not receive anything to put on your page. Please join with us and email your family information and photos to us so that we can add them to our site. Click the Family Search button to ask us about someone you are searching for in our family. Click the Contact Us button for information on how to contact us. The contact page also contains links for sending us email. Thanks for Coming ByI hope you enjoy visiting our little family website!
