August 24 and 25, 2001: Woke up bright and early to walk over to Islands of Adventure which is a seperate park from Universal Studios. This is the Marvel/Toon/Dr. Seuss land and all that. We had loads of fun exploring and walking and taking pictures with the super heroes. *giggle*
August 23, 2001: Woke up bright and early to walk over to Universal Studios. We had lots and lots of fun walking around and taking pictures, etc.
August 22, 2001: After much packing, etc. Will and Amy were finally ready to head to the airport. Shannon Smith, our groomsman, was kind enough to take off of work and drive us to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport where we took off for Orlando, Florida. Arriving in Houston, Texas, New Orleans, Louisiana and finally Orlando, Florida. We stayed at the Radisson Hotels which is located right across the street from Universal Studios.
August 20, 2001: Unfortunately, the get-away car didn't get very far when we were running errons. A red Neon ran a red light and plowed into our Mustang. *sniff* May you forever rest in peace, my sweet Mustang.
August 18, 2001: Woke up relatively early to start getting ready. Naturally, the girls ran a wee bit late, but made it to the church bright and early to set up and put the make-up on, etc. Everything seemed to go so smoothly, with the exception of Will twisting his ankle on the way down the steps at the beginning of the wedding. *laugh* He's okay though. The reception went smooth too. Everything seemed to be so perfect! We just can't wait to get the pictures back. *giggle*.
August 17, 2001: Our rehearsal. At 7:30 PM we all met at the church and practiced our walks and words for the following day. All went well. *smile* Following the rehearsal was the rehearsal dinner. We ate at the Rooftop which is located on top of the Sheraton Hotel on 4th Street and I-35. Food was excellent and service was superb! I highly recommend this location for any events you have. =)
August 3, 2001: Jen and Emma (from Amy's work) arranged a celebration party in honor of Amy getting hitched. It was a total blast. Pam drove Amy to the restaurant where the shin-dig was to be held and a drink'n we did. *smile* Let's see, it was Emma, Jen, Gloria and a friend of her's, Amy, Pam, Kevin, Stephanie, Sherrie, Mark, Ken, and Cayce. However, after a few hours most people had to drive home. So Pam, Amy, Kevin, Stephanie, Sherrie and Mark went to play pool and Buffallo Billiards, then Sherrie, Amy and Mark went to Copper Tank and Polyester's to dance. It was a whole lot of fun!
August 2, 2001: 5:30PM appointment with Christopher Zaleski. Engagement pictures are ready to be picked up! Woo hoo! Will and Amy love them, they turned out excellent!
August 2, 2001: 11:00AM luncheon meeting with Patty, events coordinator, with Shoreline Grill. Lunch was very good. Amy had her very first Ceasar Salad that didn't taste disgusting. Amy and Patty picked out the reception buffet menu and decided on where to place certain objects. Very nice luncheon meeting, went very well!
August 1, 2001: Sent notice to Chardonnay Apartments of our intent to vacate on August 31, 2001. Yes, our plans are to move back to the Beaumont/Nederland area. Woo hoo! Family and best friends are down there. Amy is hyped about the move. However, her Austin comrades will most definitely be missed...*sniffle* Okay, change of subject or she's gonna cry! So anyways, this is also the day Amy turned in her two weeks resignation at work. *sigh* Sadness of departing continues in her world.
July 27, 2001: Picked up marriage license! WOOOOO!!! Engagement pictures were taken. It was a lot of fun! Christopher Zaleski (our photographer), Will and Amy ventured out towards UT campus to photograph. The sun wasn't quite working as well as Christopher had hoped so we went to his studio for some 'in-house' pictures.
July 24, 2001: Congratulations to Will!!! He stopped smoking at 9:45AM.
July 17, 2001: Happy Birthday Will!!! A whoping 27 years old today! (Ain't he old? *giggle*)
July 7, 2001: Bridal shower given to Amy by Lori Nelson, Barbara Jensen and Kelly Bonura. We all had a splendid time! Amy and Will received lots of new presents and the cake was absolutely scrumptious! Thank you all for everything!!! Will and I truly appreciate your best wishes, thoughts and gifts!
July 4, 2001: Happy Birthday America!!!
July 3, 2001: Amy was finally able to block more hotel rooms for out-of-town guests. Yeah! Updated information can be found here.
June 24, 2001: The 6th year anniversary of Will and Amy's first kiss. How romantic... Amy took the liberty of calling various hotels to block rooms for out-of-town guests. Unfortunately, she was only able to succeed at this task for one hotel. Perhaps tomorrow (Monday) will be a better day.
June 21, 2001: Out-of-town guest invitations were mailed. Yippee!
May 21, 2001: Once receiving the invitations through mail, Amy starts to practice calligraphy.
May 15, 2001: After several long excrusiating hours of looking through magazines, Will and Amy finally agreed upon one invitation. The invitations were ordered and arrived at the apartment six days later.
April 24, 2001: A meeting with Scott McNulty, an organist of First Presbyterian Church who works with Sallie quite frequently played several classical pieces for Amy to hear. After many brief versions of songs were played, Scott and Amy finally agreed to the classical pieces which are to be played on the wedding day.
April 19, 2001: First meeting with Sallie Herring, the wedding coordinator with University Christian Church (UCC). She was extremely kind regarding Amy's tardiness to the appointment and sat down with Amy explaining details of what could be done with the church, etc.
April 10, 2001: Three meetings were set up for cake tasting. The first company, Countryside Baking. The second, Simon Lee Bakery. The third, Divine Desserts. Scott Calvert of Countryside Baking was absolutely fabulous. He drew the dream cake of Amy's vision and allowed her to taste several pieces of his work (yum-yum!). Judy with Simon Lee Bakery wasn't that cordial, we'll just leave it at that. And Divine Desserts were very helpful with answering questions and showing pictures, etc. However, Scott was absolutely fantabulous so that's who Amy decided to go with.
March 29, 2001: First meeting with Christopher Zaleski of Zaleski Studios. Needless to say, he won Amy over with his beautiful photographs and nice personality. Right then and their Amy paid the deposit. =)
March 24, 2001: Amy drove down to Beaumont and Nederland, Texas to not only visit with her old boss, Angela, for Angela's baby shower...Amy also drove down to have her very first meeting with a seamstress. Cookie at MaryAnne's Fabrics was very helpful and nice!
March 7, 2001: After visiting the board at Austin Weddings, Amy noticed that someone had had their reception at Shoreline Grill (which is directly next door to Amy's work). She immediately set up an appointment to visit Shoreline and view their lovely dining room.
February 9, 2001: Visited Fire Henry's to see if this location would 'do' for our reception. Although Fire Henry's is a beautiful place with a pool and everything, it didn't have that 'umph', so to speak that Amy was looking for.
February 4, 2001: Met with our very first photographer, North Light Photography. Very nice individuals, unfortunately they were booked before we could purchase their services.
January 18, 2001: After looking at practically every Methodist church in Austin, Amy finally put down a deposit for the very first church she looked at, University Christian Church.
December 9, 2000: Not only was this day Amy's birthday, it was also the wedding day of one of her best friends, Dana Hyatt to be wed to Johnny Palermo. This is also the day that Amy found out that Lauren Ross (a very old acquintance of Amy's) was also planning to get married on 09/01/01. Therefore, we made a deal. Whoever caught the bouquet would get to marry on 09/01. The other, well...now you know that's one of the reasons we're getting married on August 18th. =)
November, 2000: A tentative wedding date was set for September 1, 2001.
October 4, 2000: While both at work, Amy emailed Will (for about the billionth time) if he would marry her. He replied with a "Yes." and Amy has been very happy ever since.
