Jacob Carver: Born in Italy, circa 1200 AD. Awakened while training for priesthood, Jacob went on to become an Inquisitor in the Papal Inquisition. He turned his focus from heretics (Nephandi) to Vampires (Vampires) after he became aware of their existence. Cut a bloody swath across Europe in his one-man crusade from 1221 to 1390, when he disappeared in one of the most mysterious disappearances in Chorus history. Opinions are split about evenly whether he Ascended, got killed by the vampires he hunted, wandered into the Umbra to fight the good fight and bring God to the heathen spirits, or just ducked out of public life.
Ezekial Reed: A very old man living near the city. Looks like the bastard lovechild of Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett.
The Bad
Tobias Witherspoon- Special Agent in charge of the local FBI Office by day, NWO operative by night. He enjoys the Grateful Dead and lives at a ranch outside town. Dislikes include: Vampires, reality deviants, and Panopticon.
Elijah Jones: One of six mages to put the Volksdamon to sleep hundreds of years ago. Elijah has since cropped up again, despite his death all those many years ago, and is hellbent on a scorched earth strategy involving ruining the world before the Horizon crumbles and Things from Beyond come to take it over. Employs human sacrifice and a soul-devouring, magic-resistant black blade.
The Volksdamon: A vampire once defeated and cursed to sleep beneath the desert that was once New Hawkinsberg. Now awake and doing the bidding of Elijah Jones.
The Ugly
Brandon Dilet: Once wielded the black, sentient, murderous sword now owned by the cabal. Lost it, and his head, duelling Alistair.
Dr. Rebecca Maplethorpe: An Etherite before there were Etherites, Rebecca Maplethorpe aided in the defeat and containment of the Volksdamon. She died in the process and is buried in the desert with her prototype Clockwork Terraforming Device.
