| Background After I earned my BS in Environmental Engineering from Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey, I came to Department of Environmental Systems Engineering in Clemson University, SC, USA to study the calibration of IAWQ Activated Sludge Model No.2 using four full scale wastewater treatment plants during my study of Master of Science (MS). Immediately after I earned my MS degree, I started my Ph.D. in the same department. I studied the factors influencing biodegradation of aromatic compounds by denitrifying bacterial cultures.
