THIS IS THE " EDUCATIONAL COMPUTER TEACHING GROUP"

This site is about having fun. Any questions? Internet is becoming more and more polluted with junk-mail, people selling crap, and businesses which don't know their place on the net. They're all trying to make this wonderful place (i.e.: the net) in to hell (i.e.: real world). Internet should be viewed as a place of imagination, creativity, and most of all: fun. Internet is not some really advanced tool for searching for people to rip-off. It's about searching, and finding, things which are useful, helpful, and promote the sharing of ideas. Someone has obviously seen too many alien movies: Mars explorers must weigh contamination risks... Well this is fun. How are we supposed to find life on the red planet if we will specifically land in places where there is least chance of us encountering it??? Reading the title first, I thought they'd talk about how we shouldn't contaminate mars with our own life from earth. For example, lets say that rover had some dead skin from some scientist, and in 20 years, some other rover may just detect that skin as biological past-life thing (and we'd assume there was life on mars, even though we brought it there). Oh, well. IMHO, the entire goal of going there is to look for life, not to try to avoid it. In tech news, Adobe won 2.8 million from Macromedia for some patent violations. I have no love for Macromedia, but even less love for Adobe. I mean, come on, a patent suit??? Is this how the tech industry works now a days? It's not even a worthy patent IMHO! I'm still amazed how fopen() is still a valid system call, as it allows you to open files and circumvent all sorts of security and copyright stuff. Someone should consider invoking DMCA or something to make the use of fopen() (and other file manipulation methods) illegal. Hmm... or from another perspective, how about getting a patent on fopen(), then all software that uses it will have to pay you a royalty (or you'll sue them for 2.8 million).
