Event 7 - Event 7 of the SE Qld
OC1 Series was run out of the Gold Coast Seaway and down the coast to the South then back
again. The wind and tide wasn't really in our favour but it made it interesting. There was
good runners down to the turning bouy then punching back into the wind and swell was not
ideal.Congratulations to all paddlers as we all had to battle the tide at the end of the
seaway wall, it was good to see everyone handled those conditions well.
It was a good battle for the lead this time with Matt Carter, Chris Maynard and Mick Wade all
finishing close together with only a few seconds separating them.
Good effort by Roger Hansard for winning the Senior Masters from Kenny Powell and Ron Grabbe,
Roger did well coming in 5th overall.
Good to see 5 OC2 crews racing, Gordon Jeffery and Helen Wagner had another win in that
division. Harley and Scott were doing well but lost a lot of ground in the tide.
The numbers were a bit down on previous races but I'm sure if there are good conditions
for the next race ( Moffats to Mooloolaba ) the numbers will be back up.
